What is the point of playing late game champions in the current meta ?

Unless they are fed, Aren't they useless now that majority of the games are decided around min. 20 and that they end before min 30 ?

No because late game champions are strong early game because of riot balance. A 0 stack Nasus can outtrade a Renekton at level 1.
