I understand why no one plays support

So, I was getting the Team Builder support icon and to my surprise, I had very good team mates as Morgana, Nami and Thresh. Then what happens, the bad adcs start to pop up. And I don't mean bad as in unskilled, I mean toxic. The first three plays were very rewarding, but the latter two, with Janna and Karma, were a pain.

With Janna I had this Tristana that started trash talking me because she started without me and by the time I got there she died, then she says "if I ping, you go" as if I'm supposed to support her and only her and do everything she wants. We ended up losing with no chance of turning the game because her and Zed left the game after three failed attempts to surrender.

Then the last one with Karma, I killed 3 minions with my Q while I was harassing (I literally had only 3 cs by that time) and Graves basically tells me to stop farming or afk, after awhile he recalls while I was harassing the enemy team and instead of simply recalling he spammed pings for me to leave too (it was warded, there was no jungler in sight and it was completely safe). I eventually left lane and started to roam support the rest of the team, cause he was just unbearable.

Now, my point is: playing support is actually really, really, awesome. But toxic players really ruin it. The first three teammates I got acknowledged my help and that I saved them, the others didn't say a thing except complain, even if I got their asses out of death. This toxic behavior really makes it less fun to play support in SoloQ because you never know what kind of douche adc you're gonna lane with, no one wants to be blamed for something they didn't do and the support is not your slave.

Way back in season two I main'd support (mostly as Soraka). Since then I have mostly switched to ADC because the support role is just so frustrating.

a Vayne can outplay and kill a lot of people late game, Nami can't

This is why. No matter how amazing of a game I am having as a support, I can't carry the game from that position if the rest of my team is bleh. It ain't going to be easy as an ADC, either, but at least its possible.

I still really enjoy the position, though. It offers a particular sense of accomplishment that is somehow different from the other roles, and I like that. Also, I feel like the playstyle of support better aligns with my particular skills as a player, and even with my personality. If I were a league champion, I would be a support.

This is why I often play ADC instead of Support. For whatever reason, a lot of ADC believe that they can play until the last 100 HP and expect to take down the enemy's Supp and ADC who have full HP. It is extremely bothersome. Even more so when they play as Tristana and don't escape with their Q.

The point of the matter is that they are toxic scum. What I've learned from maining ADC for awhile, is that it takes two to tango. Both parties need to communicate and stay alive. You cannot take a tower at Lv.2, Miss Fortune...why don't my pings mean anything to you?

The problem with support is that you can carry a decent teammate, but if your ADC doesn't know how to farm or position, there's only so much you can do. It doesn't matter if you're Janna, you can't peel for an ADC that doesn't understand that they shouldn't be trying to dive the other team's carries.

This is more a "toxic players suck" thread than "playing supports suck".

It doesn't particularly matter where you are on a team with toxic players. They will try to blame all their failures on something besides themselves pretty much no matter what.

I agree with you, but it's very different to have an adc saying shit about your mid laner and adc saying shit about your support. You are duo-laning, like CharQueen said, it takes two to tango, the game won't go anywhere if you both don't respect each other and play like a team, this I mean for the laning phase of course, where most games are decided at. It's quite saddening when you make the plays and your adc makes it seem like it was all him or when you do something wrong and they won't shut up about it, the support is there for you during laning phase (which also does not mean he's your slave), respect him. (Same can be said about supports that trash talk the adc, but that doesn't happen that often.)

This is also how ADCs feel about supports. And junglers about laners. And laners about junglers.

Except junglers and laners don't depend on each other for the most part. The support is 100% reliant on his or hers ad carry during laning phase to excell and the same can be said about the adc. But a Vayne can outplay and kill a lot of people late game, Nami can't, she relies on her entire team, which means it just gets worse if the entire team is toxic and not just your adc.

Mid is a 2v2 lane.

Regardless, you make it sound as if other roles don't mind having shitty teammates. For every ADC that throws a game, a top laner, mid laner, jungler and support all lose.

It's not about having an unskilled teammate, it's about laning with a teammate with low EQ and is just unbearably toxic. I honestly don't see this that often, but when I do, it's in normal games and from ADCs or Lee Sins.

Proof Support Can Save a Game

too lazy to click link: Basically as Lulu support, I was able to get our team back and extremely ahead in the game, despite being pretty behind early game. Lulu It was quite fun. However, this would not have been possible if my Draven was as good as he was.

As a support, I almost always get pinged to get out of somebodies lane or told where I need to be and what I have to buy or what champions I have to play. I just ignore them, do my own thing and come up big consistently. They tend to shut their mouth after I set up a few kills around the map until the late game when the limelight is finally on them and they are having stage fright.

Once in Team Builder, an ADC joined the room and immediately said to the support: "You'd better not fuck this up, I swear..."

He immediately goes "nope" and quits. And this was after 10 minutes in the TB queue. Oh, the frustration. I quit too.

I would've done the same.

I'm not supporting as much as I used to because:

  1. Soraka is getting nerfed and gutted. Still haven't recovered.
  2. A large portion of your cash flow is dependent on your ADC playing well (and vice versa)
  3. You both playing well requires the two of you to be on the same page and trust each other.

FINALLY. SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS MY PAIN. I main support/mid.. whenever i find myself solo q-ing i always get rude toxic adcs or people who have never played adc and get stuck with it (ranked). Its just a pain and brings the whole team down/throws.

I was playing as Soraka in one game and a Nasus called me a shit player. I kinda can't help when my W is on cooldown. Though I still have fun as playing support when people aren't blaming me for stuff :v

But it's so satisfying when you save your ADC's life and net them a double... Especially when they're nice people and thank you... I generally support just because nobody else wants to, and in my experience, my ADC is rarely that toxic...

I main thresh Supp and I'm a half decent player. I'm bronze and I have my excuses but people don't care so you won't hear them XD

Anyways, it's great to have an ADC that actually likes you as a support, it gives me the incentive to give them kills and even suicide so they don't die. But if an ADC is toxic to me I just KS from them until I have an item or two then carry one of the other lanes. Thresh is one of those champs that has the potential to win a game by supporting another lane. Ever got a trynd fed? Not only is he annoying to escape from with his e and w, but try doing so when thresh hooks you.

But still, most ADC's undervalue their supports, they need to get that if it wasn't for the support they would have a ton less kill potential. So when an ADC is toxic to the supp just remind them how much they need you by going and feeding another lane.

I used to main Marksmen and Supports, but lately I mostly play Mages mid lane. I still occasionally play the first two, but I prefer to play them when I've got a partner, not in solo queue.
