@Riot - Where is Sona among all these changes to AP and utility supports

RedCyclone··2 votes·896 views

Because she isn't perfect, she takes little effort to do well with, but you realize that there are much better supports out there with a better skill ceiling and that they are also much more interactive and "decision making" then Sona is

She has very little control in her hands when she is fully supporting, it usually looks like she is doing nothing, but she still churns out so much invisible power (Yes, still) that you could be braindead and play her The only time Sona is fully in control of her own power is when she is full AP, because when she is building AP she can actually 100% a squishy, or turn around and get a double, much more noticeable then being a glowing circle in a mash of teamfights...

Every other utility and AP support seems to be getting looked into, Nami, Janna, Lulu, Karma, Bard, Zyra, Morg... where is Sona in these changes? and with the same importance where are Annie changes?

Don't remind Riot that she exists or she will be nerfed again.

Sona's laning phase is inherently unhealthy. She doesn't level E first, so ignore that. If she levels Q first she gets undodgeable poke with no counterplay other than hooking her when she gets in range, which is why Riot lowered her MS to the lowest category possible while keeping her at the second lowest max health in the game, to make her easily punished by Blitzcrank Thresh and Leona.

If she levels W first, she turns the lane into a farm fest with no interaction, which Riot views as poor gameplay.

So all of her skills are kept horrible to make sure she is useless in lane. She can win games, but her lane phase will always be trash, and that is enough to keep most people away from her.

Your first sentence counter your last sentence. Only noob can't counter Sona

Even Soraka can easily out sustain Sona

In term of farm fest Sona must call Soraka** goddess**

I wouldn't be too surprised if they just Yorick'd her.

Counterpicking does not equal counterplaying. Champions like Morgana, Zyra, Lulu, Annie, Taric, Janna and Zilean all have problems when Sona is strong because they cannot respond to her poke.

Soraka can only easily out sustain Sona because Sona's heal is kept abysmally weak. Before her rework, Sona was able to out heal Soraka consistently.

If a Sona can easily outplay you, that mean you are bad, how about play passive and call jungler to gank her? Sona lane is easy to gank.

Wanna counter Sona ? Stand still and hit her when she get close

Zyra and Annie ( and even Morgana ) are suppose to be mid laner, you expect them to beat a true support easily on bottom lane? GJ Sona

Zilean passive is outdate , he need help.

If a Janna having trouble with Sona , then that Janna is bad.

Lulu is suppose to do well on both Bot and mid lane so she will have same problem just like mage on bot lane. But a good Lulu won't have much problem with Sona, if both Lulu and her ADC are smart then Sona won't have any chance to AA poke Luu's ADC because they can burst her easily.

Soraka can make Sona poke useless and if Soraka's ADC is smart, he can easily win trade Sona or even kill her when Sona get close to poke. Before rework Sona can out heal Soraka if they play on Aram with long teamfight, in term of burst heal, Soraka still win, not mention that she can heal mana too.

Sorry to say this but I'm not the one you need to convince. I am delivering the message Riot has given us with every Sona update. You may think everything I said was incorrect, but those are the opinions of the game designers, and that is why Sona is not being looked at seriously.

A problem when viable you mean, needing changes you mean?

No, a problem when strong. Sona is perfectly viable in the same way that Karthus is viable. She is weak early and strong late. Her power is measured around being able to buff 5 allies at once, which she cannot do in lane, but in team fights she is a monster.

Are you kidding me? Annie deletes Sona. At least with blitz and thresh you can hide behind minions. Annie zones Sona just by being in bot lane. She has more burst than Sona can handle, and her stun is devastating.

Morg, Lulu, and Zyra depend on who gets more fed/are skill matchups. They also have a lot of poke that scales better than Sona's and they have more accessible CC. Since Sona's heal is so bad, it just depends on who manages to poke better/scale better. Although because they have better CC, they tend to be better at ganks/defending against ganks, whichs gives them a better chance of getting ahead. Unless Sona can land a clutch ult when needed.

Taric and Zilean need help. She should do well against Janna since poke counters disengage.

The only reason Annie deletes Sona is her intentionally weak base stats and heal. If Riot was to buff Sona, she would zone out Annie with her 700 range undodgeable poke.

You can't claim that a match is a skill match up when one party's damage is guaranteed. The only "skill" there is responding to poke, and even that was a problem before Riot nerfed her move speed. Sona's Hymn of Valor has no cast time and deals it's damage without needing to aim the cursor or anything. It just requires proximity and vision. There's no skill there.

Hahahahahaha. Sona's Q does pitiful dmg and has an 8 sec CD. All of her poke is from her power chord empowered AAs, which are also undodgeable but require her to be within 550 range (well within Annie's range).

What takes skill is trying to poke with your power chords while staying in a relatively safe position. Especially since they all out range her significantly (even just her Qs). Yes, a large portion of the "skill" involved is on the Zyra/Morg/Lulu to bring. But if they're good at landing their skillshots when the Sona comes up to poke, then she gets stomped.

And it still doesn't change the fact that they have more accessible CC (letting them handle ganks and securing kills easier), and better scaling than Sona (making it extremely difficult to catch up if Sona gets behind).

Nobody wants Sona's dmg buffed (except maybe making her less dependent on going full AP to be relevant late game). They want her E to do something more than give 1% per skillup, her healing not to be quite so terrible and mana intensive (just a tiny buff), and maybe something to make her power chord powers more interactive/have relevant decisions.

Be patient and wait till 5.19, her change should be there

I stop playing Sona to wait for her update, now I trying to main Soraka and she is just amazing. With same amount of effort I can carry my game much harder with Soraka, just build AP on her and keep her safe (thanks Sona for teach me how to keep position <3), then your teammate can easily outplay enemy team.

item 3069 item 3003item 2010 + Soraka = carry support
