It needs to shut off the punishment for killing minions too. I was getting absolutely no gold trying to clear lanes late game because my fully upgraded support item was actively preventing me from doing so. If I can't get ANY bonus gold from the item's abilities, I shouldn't be punished late game.

they turned it into yet another uninteresting burst/assassin role, play champs like pyke or lose.
How about we just promote actual supports again, instead of shit like

why are you clearing lanes as a support? unless you're playing like brand/zyra or you're in a very particular scenario, if you're actively walking off to clear a lane rather than sticking with someone on your team as a support you're probably doing something wrong.
I miss when supports actually supported and made allies stronger instead of being 
supports shouldnt be csing. its just a con of picking zyra/velkoz/brand sup. you are using a kill lane. supports like sona and such arent good at wave clear and shouldnt be bothering.
The changes to support items are TRASH. I wish they just put it back to the way it was
as a tank support I tend to get the first upgrade then not take anything except canons or use it to heal. I hold that shit as long as I can

I mean, if they dont want to remove the penality, then it should be fair to buff the G per 5...Idk why they haven't bothered thinking about that. Even better, give it a passive where if you kill or place wards, you get 10 or 15 gold. Would incentivize more vision play and solve the gold problem without going a route that would invite the Ardent Meta. I'd also do a change to the support items and make them gain a charge of a ward per 3 minutes if its out. Most of this stuff would be on the full upgrade obviously.

The message is pretty clear with all this changes and new so called support champion additions (tho, to be fair - it started with Pyke): they want us to give up on the old way playing support (or more like - the whole meaning of support altogether) - and play this role more like a mid laner or even carry. Not necessarily CS (tho, might help if the AD shares a bit of that as well - now that the income is lower) - but definitely KS.
