People aren't gonna like the solution to malz now being played as support

Because you can deny it all you want, but every time riot makes a change something else breaks, and it just adds to the argument that it needs to be done.

I actually love that Malz is a support now.

He was broken as a mid laner. Building AP to be an AP carry, while having a point and click suppression that can kill 1v1 if you don't have MR, let alone if he has a jungler come to gank you.

Now mind you, Malz counters Ahri (who I play when I'm mid), but nonetheless it always felt like garbage playing against him. He sets an e on the wave and walks away so you can't get a gank on him. He ults you on cool down and gets a kill whenever it is up if you're in range. The two biggest abilities in his kit are point and click no counterplay - not fun. As a support, he's easier to avoid, you never have to be in a 1v1 with him (so you can break his ult with CC), and he doesn't pack the damage so his allies need to join in with him. I find him much healthier there, and I've not had troubles beating teams with Malz supports.

I honestly think it's one of the better meta shifts I've seen.

Time your charm, and you can interrupt the ult as soon as it's cast.

He's very predictable though, as there is literally one functional play pattern which works for him now. If you play around that, he has nothing. He completely lacks the ability to change his pace. It might not be very clear when he slows down and is weak (because riot botched the rework when it came to clarity too), but that's quite literally the only think you need to know about him to win.

A half decent Malz isn't going to press R on you out of range and track to you until he's in range to ult. He's going to sidestep the charm.

I agree a good malz will not misuse his ult, and will dodge charm.

However, a good malz will also know that when he's expended a W charge to farm (because he kinda needs to now), after the first 4 seconds that the voidling is no longer able to multiply, he doesn't have enough damage output to actually kill you if you do attempt a trade.

You support players are kind of a plague (no offense), I called like 3 months ago when people wanted a new support released that you would just steal another mid laner pretty soon. Now riot is gonna have a dilemma of trying to appease you just like they do with other mages that get taken support.

Since you replied this to me I assume it was meant for me.

I want to clarify that I don't play support (unless filled, and hate it). I like that Malz is now a support because I hated going against him Mid. I find it easier to handle a support Malz than a mid Malz.

They need to make traditional supports more appealing.

I haven't encountered a Malzahar support when I am supporting... Yet.

If I do, I'll choose Illaoi as support. 😈
