Why do people mostly get [Bloodthirster] rather than [Death's Dance] on Sivir?

Pros for item 3072 -5% more lifesteal on auto-attacks only -some "healing" over maxHP Pros for item 3812 -lifesteal on Q, W, auto-attacks -200g cheaper -10% cdr

And last time i tested it, Sivir 's W doesnt even count as auto-attack aside from the first enemy hit by it.

item 3812 has reduced healing for AoE. The healing from her boomerang would be pitiful. item 3072 gives a shield that's actually worth more than the bleed conversion for her total HP.

You just need to hit 2 aditional targets with W to get more healing from DD than from BT per W-AA, and 5% vamp on boomerang is still more than nothing.

The overall sustain from DD is about as high as with BT, if you get some good aoe off even higher, while it costs less and gives 10%cdr, which is a strong stat on sivir. BT is only better if you expect to have a lot 1v1 situation vs the opposing tanks with no aditional targets for the W bounce nearby.

Sivir is already kind of squishy so the item 3812 passive of reduced damage that you you'll now take over time... won't help you too much and the extra health from Q and W ricochets isn't enough to give up the Shield that you get from item 3072 .

You get bloodthirster to prevent assassins from 1 shotting you. That extra 380 health is a lot.

She typically hits max CDR without death's dance.

As others have said it is for the shield.

All of sivir's offensive skills are AoE. Dance's Death is better on single target champs.

The better question is why not get both?

just doing some theory crafting but what if one where to grab item 3812 item 3072 item 3142 item 3071 + situational item + boots of choice

would play more like an adcaster has good aoe damage with the aa reset + steroid on ricochet still has decent attackspeed and a youmous to boost it when needed too. And offers utility aswell as having decent selfpeel and strong lifesteal.

It's not a terrible build, but it will lose out on a lot of damage. Right now, Sivir's W actually gets more AoE damage from crit than it does from armor penetration. You'll get higher single-target and AoE damage with crit. Not having the phantom dancer that Sivir usually goes for can also make dueling and surviving fights much harder. The lowered DPS and the weakness of Death's Dance on AoE also means that your lifesteal really isn't as good as you'd want for having two items invested into it.

Your build's main advantage is that it can be good for applying cleaver stacks, which can be useful in certain team comps, but really isn't worth what you're giving up in personal power. I'd rather just build a Last Whisper item and make my own AoE damage worth a damn instead. It will also be a bit stronger for fighting at one item, but Sivir's strategy is ususally to avoid fighting at one item in favor of heavy pushing and farming, and ER will help that task much more than a Ghostblade will.

Only half true. Crit scales, like on any adc includeing lucian and jhin, better into late, while ad+pen builts give more power early on. A yomuu's as rush item is noticeable more potent than a ER or IE, it'S only after about 3 big items that crit really bypasses a pen built.

While this is true, it very important to remember that not all AD carries scale with crit and armor penetration to the same amounts. Lucian scales very heavily with armor penetration and relatively less with crit because a low percentage of his damage scales with crit. Sivir is exactly the opposite. A relatively large percentage of her damage scales with crit. This majorly changes how good a penetration build is on her relative to a crit build.

A yomuu's as rush item is noticeable more potent than a ER or IE, it'S only after about 3 big items that crit really bypasses a pen built.

I addressed this. I'll do so again in more specific terms. First, I think Ghostblade is only more potent as a single item. Sivir's crit scaling is strong enough that at two items, it's basically evened out. Second, Sivir's ideal strategy does not involve lots of fighting with one item. She pushes heavily, and contributes ults to picks. That's pretty much her job early game. That strategy limits the effectiveness she can get out of ghostblade to a point where it isn't worth picking it up just to be stronger at one item, and ghostblade is not strong enough to make it particularly rewarding to deviate from the strategy. It's not worth it.

Don't underestimate sivirs Q damage early-mid, with a arpen/ad built, you can junk 50% of a squishy with just that skill. it's also far more reliable and her raw ad-scaleing + pen scaleing is pretty massive. If you go for a crit built, it all depends on rng wether you do more or sigficantly less damage than a arpen built, especially if you go ER->IE since sivir scales not really with AS other than useing AAs. She preofits FAR more from AD than AS. If you go ER or IE into a zeal item, you really need alot free AA time to get enough out of the AS. Unless your really favored by RNG-sus, the yomuu's built will stay more effective(and atleast more reliable) at 2 items aswell. The crit path catches up woth the components for the 3ed item and bypasses at the 3ed full item. This also depends on your masterie, Fervor synergieses well with the arpen, but not really with crit.

And sivirs strategie does not involve alot fighting early IF she goes the crit built. With Yomuu's, her all in gets really scarrie+it gives more reliable waveclear from one item and more towerdamage early on, especially if the passive is used, so if you want a fast push, yomuu's does that better.

IF you adapt the strategir to the built(or your built to an early/mid focused strategie), it works damn well. If you built your teamcomp around haveinng a powerfull lategame from bot(which usually is the case), ofc going for the lategame built is better, but if your teamcomp has different aims, sivir can adjust really well with other builts that alter her powercurve. So can do most marksmen actually.

If you go for a crit built, it all depends on rng wether you do more or sigficantly less damage than a arpen built,

Her average DPS with a crit build is significantly higher than with an armor penetration build, and given that RNG will provide her with extremely beneficial results as often as it provides her with extremely poor ones, this is good enough for me. Besides, with the pRNG system, getting extremely unlucky is very rare.

Unless your really favored by RNG-sus, the yomuu's built will stay more effective

No, that's not how this works. If her average DPS is higher with a crit build (and it is), than by definition she needs to be very unlucky to do less damage. Additionally, you are completely forgeting that probability cuts both ways. I can't just think about the possibility of being unlucky without also consdering the possibility of being extremely lucky. Since outcomes are matchmatically of an equal chance, the best thing to do is play by the average DPS.

You worry way, way, way too much about the possiblity of being unlucky, without paying enough attention to the probability of that happening, and without taking into mind the opposite probability.

especially if you go ER->IE since sivir scales not really with AS other than useing AAs. She preofits FAR more from AD than AS.

No, you'd go ER -> PD. This is the only high level build and it's also the only pro build. PD actually gives her dueling potential and makes her single-target DPS worthwhile enough to do her job. It's also a much cheaper second buy than getting an IE, and it gets her the full CDR value much, much earlier.

It's very easy to overvalue AD on Sivir, but it's not that beneficial.

This also depends on your masterie, Fervor synergieses well with the arpen, but not really with crit.

Given that a crit build will have more attack speed, I'm going to strongly disagree here too.

+it gives more reliable waveclear from one item

Also untrue. One combo with either item will instaclear a wave, which is perfect reliability in either case, but ER takes less mana doing that.

t. With Yomuu's, her all in gets really scarrie

No, it really, really doesn't. Her all-in with Ghostblade is mediocre. It is always medicore at one item, and playing around a mediocre all-in is a bad strategy. It should be a last-resort, not something you actually play around.

IF you adapt the strategir to the built(or your built to an early/mid focused strategie), it works damn well.

Even in a game where I want to do something early, if I have a Sivir, then what I want to do early involves a lot of pushing and pressuring towers and trying to make picks off of bad enemy rotations. That's how a sivir comp works early. If you're taking full teamfights early as Sivir, you're playing it horribly wrong. That means that unless you and your team are using an inferior strategy for your Sivir pick, you don't need the small early powerspike of ghostblade. You can easily wait for the second item where the power completely evens out.

Sivir lvl 12, 13.5%as and 8.5ad from runes

item 1055 item 3006 item 3508 item 3031( 8750g total), AD 242 AS 1.049; with W 1.424 crit 60%(40% with 50% more crit-damage means a 60% dps increase with 40% chance)

Raw dps: 406 ; with W 551

item 1055 item 3006 item 3508item 3046 item 1037 (8675g total) AD 172 AS 1.308; with W 1.683 crit 50%

Raw dps: 337 ; with W 434

So even for raw AA dps, ER+IE is better than ER+PD, whil also givingmore aoe damage with W, more power to the AA reset and more damage for Q.

for Flatpen vs PD lvl 12

item 1055 item 3006 item 3142 item 3147 10 pen+~7ad from runes

AD 246 AS 0.964; with W 1.339 ; W+yomuu 1.562 arpen 40

Raw dps:237; with W/yomuu 329; w+yomuu 384 Effective dps vs 50(10) armor 90.90%; dps: 215; with W 299; w+yomuu 349 vs 70(30) armor 76.92%; dps: 182; with W 253; w+yomuu 295 vs 100(60) armor 62.5%; dps: 148; with W 206; w+yomuu 240 vs 150(110) armor 47.62%; dps: 113; with W 157; w+yomuu 183 vs 200(160) armor 38.46%; dps: 91; with W 126; w+yomuu 148

item 1055 item 3006 item 3508 item 3046 13.5%as and 8.5ad from runes

AD 172 AS 1.308; with W 1.683 crit 50%

Raw dps: 337 ; with W 434

Effective dps vs 50 armor 66.67%, 224 ; with W 289 vs 70 armor 58.82%, 198 ; with W 255 vs 100 armor 50%, 169 ; with W 217 vs 150 armor 40%, 135 ; with W 173 vs 200 armor 33.33%, 112 ; with W 144

The crit built gives some more raw dps, nearly no differense duering W and less if the yomuu'S is active, just that the pen built grants more damage on the AA resetand W bounces(which both don't scale with AS) aswell as on Q. vs low armor targets, the Pen built gives more damage in nearly any situation.

If you're taking full teamfights early as Sivir, you're playing it horribly wrong

I said nothing about 'full teamfights', and even if, sivir has one of the better early teamfights amongst adc, especially with a yomuu's rush as her ult grants alot mobillity and she offers alot aoe. And ofr catching people out in between rotations, the ms from yomuu'S active aswell as the superior burst with AA-reset+Q and the higher dps duering the active make yomuu's strong in that scenario. The flat pen also gives more damage vs towers, and you have more poke from Q+W in sieges. Yomuu'S is jsut stronger in an early rotations game.

Also, it seems like you have the impression that i say tha the flatpen built is the overall better built. I never said anything like that, just that the flat pen built is stronger in the early and can sometimes be a valid choice, especially if playing solo, as soloQ does not always alow for optimal team comps/strategies.

I generall, sivir is a very save carry that can usually easily wait out to hit2+ items for her spikes, but that does not mean that it's the **only **valid way to go for her.
