Daily reminder that IBG and Trinity force don't stack...
I keep seeing Ezreal players do this and I cringe every time.

problem solved
Edit: Does mallet even proc on ezreal Qs? I feel like it should.
it does
Ezreal Q procs onhit effects, so yes it procs mallet slow for ranged attacks.
i tried it. trindy Bork mallet combo is so fucking annoying ecspecially if you are a juggernaut.

Yeah it seems pretty busted on paper, you get so much survivability and the extra slow, keeping the trinity damage.
You don't lose Trinity Force damage by going TF+IBG.
You don't lose Trinity Force damage by going TF+IBG.
No, but then you are losing damage by inefficient gold spending since the sheen effects don't stack on the same target.
The point is you don't get IBG to deal damage, so you lose damage (compared to the next damage item) either way.
the point is why you would want to get these 2 together. i literaly made now more than 5 posts in here.
Yeah, so you did spam some.
For utiltiy like the iceborn slow other roles are kidna better. An adc wants to do as mcuh dmg as possible and i think that is what should be right. Adcs should be as much glasscanon as possible. Otherwise it wouldn't be fair, if they have the range AND the tankiness while Meless only have tankiness and no range.
Your explanation for "Why not?" is "It wouldn't be fair for others". Clearly you know your stuff.
i wonder if you even read them all. And why you coulnd't give a real answer and just a meme. ofc you don't loose the trintiy dmg by going trintiy and iceborn. But you waste just 1100 gold for a second sheen. The cd you can get elsewhere. The mana is more of a dead stat. Even with muramana, it adds nto as mcuh dmg as other items would. the point about fairness is, that riot designed the game like this. If you pick a janna, ahri or miss fortune and go full tank you are more likly to loose the lane as if you picked a tank building full tank. Or these champions and build them with the most optimal itembuild. And the most optimal adc itembuild would be as much dmg as possibel. Hell if the game drags rly long some adcs even sell boots for another dmg item. With 2,3 Zealitems (or a trintiy) you can have enoguh movementspeed to compensate that even a bit.

Only the spell blade effect doesn't stack but every other effect do, CDR, mana. There are better items to build but going IBG + Triforce isn't horrible. It's the tank equivalent of using Thornmail + Randiuns. The attack speed slow doesn't stack, but using both of them together does not make a tank useless.
for both examples it gives just better choices, I already answered enough for ezreal here.
Regarding Thornmail and Randuins: why go these 2 together if there are items like
,
,
,
,
,
,
,
and yea, even
? And these were mostly only the armoritems, a few healthitems i didn't include. Just to have grievious wounds AND reduced crit dmg on your champ? Cause the slow of randuins active you can get elsewhere, the grivious wounds maybe too and if you are tanky enough you can to afford not having the critreduction.
I mean, geting bith items is kidna ok. At least the stats are the same like rapidfire and stattiks. But trinity iceborn is just bad, the ""snyergy"" far to weak.
Dont tell them how to lose their life

Okay, but on a serious note, i can see why people do. Probably some false sense of synergy resemblance to the 2 ADC Charge items.
RPC and stattich have a fusion-ish interaction in the sense that you get the range bonus from RPC BUT also the shock proc from stattich.
BUT IBG AND TRINDYFORCE ARE NOT LIKE THAT.
Sheen procs were coded to proc the weakest of them all. AKA you will always only proc IBG sheen without the Trindyforce sheen damage.
The most likely reason why people stack them is for the stats....but even then so both items combined are nowhere as awesome as other items. for those 2 slots you waste you can buy items worth twice as much in Efficiency and gameplay aspect.

i am going to have to disagree with you on that one, I just did it in the practice tool you get the damage of the trinity force with the effect of the IBG
then something went wrong because riot specified that sheen procs will never synergize and always only proc one of the both. and as far as my experience has been going it always proced the weaker one.
Something doesn't add up
okay....that proves that both sheens synergize in their procs by giving trindy damage and ibg slow....
but then i ask something else entirely
WHEN DID RIOT CHANGE THIS
some patch awhile back
I believe the AoE damage is still the IBG damage but the primary target gets the Triforce dmg.
this is correct
That's been like that for a long time . It takes the highest damage by default. So you could add all 3 sheen items and you'll get the slow from ibg and the damage from both . But I assume people do it to get 40% cdr and get attack speed boots
It was like this from the moment Sheen items were added to the game.
Nah, it's just that you have to small mistakes in your facts.
So the end result is: they keep the stronger damage from Triforce, but the slow from IBG. You lose the usual damage from the IBG proc, though, and you can't stack the slow from IBG with the slow from Frozen Mallet.
this is so weird because i remember in Season 6 that riot specifically had said they would not let sheen procs synergize at all....
i guess i just missed out on something.
Indeed, they don't synergize. You don't get to stack the damage, so you lose some value if you buy various sheen upgrades. But "they don't synergize" does NOT mean "they don't work at all".
maybe you're right and i just misunderstood...
i Need some minutes to fully process this.
Are you sure it was "sheen" procs and not "zeal*" procs?
* - Or however they'd call Shiv and RFC procs...
They stack the effect. Which is viable in very rare situations where you want the slow and the Trinity damage.
tell me one or all those "rare" situations you know (not limited to ezreal, i know ansus could do this too).
When you want/need the slow and more CDR (so no Frozen Mallet).
https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/PpE5W59O-daily-reminder-that-ibg-and-trinity-force-dont-stack?comment=00040000 so i would suggest going the iceborn gauntlet, not trinity force and some of the other cdr items. Or go trinity, a slow item and 2 cdr items.
it seems like you don't know items have raw stats, those stack by the way
No. No they don't. It just takes the greater sheen value.
Triforce damage to the primary target, IBG damage to everything around it.
This means that IBG is 2700 gold you are spending for marginal increase in damage. You get some CDR (a stat Ezreal would usually cap even without a second sheen item) and a little bit of splash damage (in a tiny area due to your armor not being all that high).
IBG is only good on Ezreal because of its defenses IN COMBINATION WITH its damage. If your other items negate its damage, the item is USELESS.
"Those" refers to the raw stats.
The raw stats DO stack.
You get AD, Health, CDR, more CDR, Armor, AS, and tons of mana.
if you are an ezreal, you want more dmg more as these whole bunch of defense stats. As Nasus, you want to be as tanky as you can. Sure, the trinity can be a nice dmg item. But whyyou should go after that iceborn? Frozen heart would be a better replacement. Or why even this grind for mana? cdr you get in a lot of tankitems, mostly in mr items which you want to pick up to most times.
They don't stack directly, but it's not a bad combo either. They work similar to energized attacks: The highest spellblade damage is used vs the main raget and all sideffects trigger. so you gain the iceborn aoe damage+slowfield with the trinity damage vs singletargets, and the high mana on both together allows to skip tear for an earlyier powerspike or else works well with muramana mid-late. Not sure if it's a better solution that just getting mallet if you want a slow on Q with the damage from trinity, but i can see it work vs teams with alot physical damage.
IBG costs 2700 gold. If you already have triforce, this item will grant you no damage (save for CDR).
If you're spending 2700 gold as an ADC for something that doesn't increase your damage, you are putting yourself in a hole.
sad times we live in, back in the days it was common for adc to use one slot on a purely defensive item...
In the late game, sure.
Early on? Horrible idea.
Even defensively, IBG just isn't that good. You don't have the HP to make all that armor worthwhile.

Hmmm... what do you reckon on Nasus though?
Still bad.
Not only does it fail stat-wise (You already cap CDR, and your mana problems are solved with your first sheen, so you're spending 2700 gold on 65 armor and a slow), but it messes with your power curve.
Nasus needs his core build by mid game, or he's not a functional champion.
Generally along the lines of this

He needs a Sheen item, MR, armor, a good chunk of HP, and boots.
If you replace any one of those items with a second sheen item, you will not reach the tier of midgame Nasus until 2700 gold later, at which point Nasus very well might fall off.
Against an AD heavy comp, replacing Triforce with IBG is fine. Don't get both.
But Ezreal has to put himself in a hole, its his core build
No, he doesn't.
Ezreal buys ONE sheen item, which increases his damage dramatically, and a tear, which scales into a major damage source later even if it doesn't do a whole lot early.
Buying two sheen items is just a waste.
I meant him rushing Tear, which puts him behind in damage
I 100% agree that Sheen is much better as a first buy
But the energized attacks stack better. They changed rapidfire, so energized attackss tack faster. This makes warlords and Stattiks better. And both are items with crit and attackspeed, what an adc wants. As Bârd mentioned a bit, defense isn't anything an adc rly wants.
Also, Manamune isn't great unless you buy a lot of mana, and that disqualifies Trinity Force, so stop buying those two items together, also.
thats bullshit cause you need the muramana on botlane for your manasustain mostly. Muramana isn't a great item, with or without iceborn. Thats why Jayce and lethalaty Varusplayer can try toa void buying that item as wella s jungle ezreal plays without it and is popular now in high elo. But you go on ez onhit cause he scales with it much better as with crit adn since trintiy no longer gives crit, you go trinity muramana blade of the ruined king as well as iceborn adn te 2 other.
Beside to the op, i saw more Nasusplayers building both as Ezreal i think.
If you build Trinity Force and IBG together on any champion, you are an idiot....no offense lol but seriously, the damage doesnt stack. If you purchase IBG after tri-force, you're literally just spending 2700g on a slow effect, bc thats all you get from it. Its a complete and utter waste of income. Anyone who tries to argue otherwise does not understand league of legends. Buying a frozen mallet isnt the greatest idea either bc ezreal is not an auto-attacking champion. You wont ever AA enough to make use of the gold spent on that item. Ez really only aa's in-between q's occasionally
