Yorick is boring to play?

I really like Yorick's character, and his kit and abilities look really fun in THEORY. He looks like he's a fun and interactive champ to play.

But in practice he just feels so unrewarding to play.

Take a look at his Q, however you use it, it's a lose-lose scenario. If you use it on a minion, you dig a grave, but you're left without any trading tool for several seconds. If you use it to trade with a champion, you don't get graves and can't use your passive, which is part of Yorick's core identity and gameplay.

His Q is similar to Nasus Q, but without any longterm benefits when used on minions, and on a longer cooldown so making a decision is even more punishing.

Also even when you get your ghouls up, the only reliable way to make them attack the enemy champion is by landing a very narrow skillshot.

His ult is on a similar boat. You can use it to splitpush a lane while helping your team, but very often someone will come up and kill it within 15 seconds. You could also use it in teamfights, but then you lost it's splitpushing power.

He seems like he's the kind of champ who's supposed to splitpush a lot, but he lacks the mobility and raw trading power to make him effective at that role.

His minions are meant to be his trading power and his Q is on a short enough cooldown that it isn't that much of a problem.

With a 7 second cooldown on his Q at first level, it takes AT BEST 14 second to build up your first three ghouls. By this time, most toplaners will have been able to trade with you at least twice, and you were left with nothing to retaliate with. And even when you have your ghouls up, they are very unresponsive unless you land your E.

The only change I'd want is if I can also direct my ghouls/maiden to attack with my q. Changes nothing vs ranged champs, makes fighting other melee less clunky.

I really don't see that at all when I play him.

Here are how my games go.

Early laning phase is spent building up graves and summoning minions and targeting the lane opponent with my E.

Once we hit level 6, they usually don't respect my damage and I am able to solo kill them.

Then I become a split pushing monster for the rest of the game.

When I decide to join a teamfight, I am also a raid boss there.

I have an extremely fun time while playing him if my team is actually able keep the other team from winning.

If my team can hold up in a 4v5 scenario, I become a massive force in a game.

I had this one game a while back where I was able to do this. My team was able to hold up in the base in 4v5 and stall long enough. Eventually, the inhib that I took ended up pushing the nexus towers to the point where we were able to TP while they were doing Baron and end the game. It was amazing.

I find that, when my team is actually not potatoes, Yorick is extremely fun to play. His gameplay pattern is a bit stale, but he is not meant to be a champ with a massive skill cap. He is meant to be a little stale for early and mid game, but once he comes out of his lane, everyone is fucked.
