Proper use of bramblevest/thornmail
People don't seem to understand the proper use of bramblevest or thornmail for that matter so I will explain it here.
The old thornmail was useful for countering auto attacks due to reflecting a hefty chunk of damage and it was generally useful on malphite/rammus because of the way the reflected damage scaled.
The new bramblevest/thornmail is for countering healing and healing only - not autoattacks; and it's valuable on any tank/bruiser. So what does that mean?
If you rush bramblevest vs say a jax, pantheon, jayce, kennen, riven or an ADC that has only one life steal item then you've just wasted 900 gold on an item that will not give you an edge and you will get smashed in lane because those champions don't rely on heals.
Bramble vest will however give you an edge over champions that rely on healing to give them an edge. This covers champions like fiora, irelia, akali, tryndamere, aatrox, warwick, mundo - and even vlad or swain if they auto attack you.
The actual point at which to build bramble/vest thornmail vs ADC's is either late game in general or if they pick up more than one sustain item and/or they have an alternate source of healing (soraka).
