support being overtuned as a role is just as much a problem as ADC for bot-centric meta
support snowball is out of control but because they don't directly instagib you, you don't care, even if support is directly the reason that ADC's absurd damage output is no longer balanced out by absurd squishiness, and is why a fat chunk of solo laners fail to find a way to impact games unless they're snowballing
support champs are/were designed around being functional with minimal items and low gold income. today however they have neither; they have some of the strongest items in the game
and enough gold that they can be on 2nd or 3rd item by the time a solo laner has finished their first core.
support kits have never been compensated for the massive improvement in their ability to scale into the game. enchanters being given items that double dip into their shield scaling with AP and H/S have never seen nerfs to their base shields. Braum and Tahm are only just now seeing nerfs. Taric, Rakan and Sona are the only supports with tremendous late game power that have appropriately weak early games. the result is getting these champions who have complete control over how laning goes because they are much more powerful starting off than their lane partner, who now have strong bases AND great scaling through shielding, healing, and utility in items. they make ADCs far too hard to take down through added HP and damage reductions for how little investment they take in both gold and skill.
if enchanters and tank supports are going to scale as well as they do, they need to take a hit to their early lane control. fortunately Riot is aware of this even if boards isn't, and the spellthief regen nerf is an excellent start to capping early support dominance by making resource management more crucial.
is more influencal then ardent but yeah you have a point
