Amumu needs a VGU desperately

I wanted to go over some issues with Amumu and why normal buffs won't fix them. I'll be using comparisons to other tank junglers to illustrate why they're is no reason to ever pick Amumu really.

1. He's a tank with no tank scalings. The only stat that he directly scales with is AP. Champs like Sej and Rammus both scale with Armor and MR or Zac who scales with HP. The only defensive scaling Amumu gets is a completely negligible 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 10 flat reduced physical damage on his E. This leaves Amumu in a weird spot where he is only rewarded for building damage when you want to build him tank 90% of the time. But tank itemization was nerfed in return for giving tanks more tankiness in their kits. Amumu didn't get anything which leaves him as a paper tank. He is as tanky as a Caitlin who built all tank items. He also doesn't have the ratios or base damages of an AP mage, diver, or assassin. You just don't do as much damage as a Diana or Katarina when building AP, yet AP is the only stat you are rewarded for building.

2. His jungle clear is atrocious. Amumu is absolute dogshit at clearing every camp besides raptors. Single target camps like buffs and Gromp take an eternity and make the flat damage reduction on his E worthless. He also has absolutely zero sustain and big Mana issues. Compared to Rammus and Sej who get tons of bonus armor and Zac who gets %HP sustain we again see Amumu lacking. Amumu is so weak in the jungle early that you just have to pray the enemy jungler doesn't have the brains to hunt you down in your jungle at all times

3. He is crazy reliant on his Q, but his Q sucks. People say Amumu is reliant on his ult which isn't exactly true because his ult is actually reliant on his Q. However, his Q is garbage as a gap closer. If you miss your Q that's it. Your only option is the enemy team lets you walk at them for a flash R. Not only that, but your Q can be blocked by minions and other champs. Looking at other tank junglers, they get gap closers that even if they miss enemy champions it still gets them into the fight. Zac has his slingshot, Sej has her dash, and Rammus has his ball that let's him juke and close distance.

4. He does nothing after pressing R. Other tanks have more CC or slows that they can rotate around in fights on basic abilities. What does Amumu have? A super unreliable half- second single-target stun on a long CD?

Buffs aren't going to fix him. He needs a full VGU desperately. He's a relief of the past who time was not kind to. Riot needs to decide whether they want him as a tank or an AP diver. Honestly I like the idea of an AP diver because we already have plenty of tanks and it seems to fit his theme and lore more.
