Should the armor/mr(reduction) be removed from exhaust?

dominusx··69 votes·2,844 views

I dont see a reason to have that in exhaust tbh and the spell is rather overpowered as it is. Maybe increase the dmg reduction it gives and remove the armor/mr removal? i mean making my champ useless is one thing but making me also squishier is too much. Plus it wont be abused as an offence tool as much. Thoughts?

Instead of removing it completely, how about making it a percent reduction instead? Against assassins or marksmen, the exhaust would primarily function to reduce their damage output. Against that raid boss tank, the exhaust would primarily function as a percent armor/MR reduction to help the team bring them down.

i can see this working tbh.

dunder kill3 votes

maybe a small % bonus Armor/MR so it doesnt affect squishies at all really. Kind of the same thing that they did to LW

Spaceman5pff7 votes

Or they could NOT introduce more defensive stat-negation to the game.

I don't know if you are aware, but the full pen builds are capable of negating 110% of purchased armor from a 400 armor target, leaving them with LESS than their scaled base armor.

As long as Cleaver + LDR / MR stack together, we cannot add more defensive stat negation to this game in a healthy manner.

Eedat3 votes

Lets be honest here. Your tank losing 5% bonus armor/MR for 2 seconds is a massive win if they're eating the Exhaust CD over your burst mage or assassin

How long has summoner 4 existed and its broken so why nerf summoner 3

Xeruon2 votes

Flash has existed for the longest of time, and it has been nerfed and nerfed. Plus, it's become so core that Riot's balacing some champions around the fact that they need flash to engage.

Spaceman5pff1 votes

Riot made many flash nerfs, however, the sheer power of INSTANT blink mobility is so much that they may as well remove it if they want to make it weak enough to be optional.

warpenguin5554 votes

not sure why it has the resist reductions. probably doesn't need those

RedCyclone5 votes

Resist reduction came from the masteries of old, where every summoner spell had a corresponding mastery slot to allocate into making it better

Enloct1 votes

I have no idea why this got downvoted. He's right. They took the mastery bonuses and tacked them on by default.

Raven Redeemed1 votes

This was to help assassins (specifically Zed I believe). They reduced it by 10 damage reduction in exchange for the resist shred so that assassin would not be completely crippled damage-wise but instead take more damage.

ModCaptainMårvelous3 votes

Give it the item 3157 item 3089 treatment.

One slows you and removes resistances One makes you do less damage.

Less dmg one would not be used over the other one.

It made it feasible to fight that assassin-diver-bruiser-tank ( Rengar Zed Fiora Irelia MasterYi Yasuo ) that can still somehow fuck you over even while they're being exhausted, and really needed to feel the hurt before the duration ended.

Plus, with damage creep and "extended" assassination windows being ever more prevalent, Exhaust is the least effective it's ever been because an Overkill Combo simply becomes a Kill Combo. That still kills you.

Exhaust doesn't need the nerf, if anything it needs a buff to keep up with the times.

ProfDrDeath2 votes

Yes. WIth the resistance reduction in place, Exhaust doubles as an offensive and a defensive summoner spell.

If the resistance reduction is removed, it'll bea dedicated defensive spell, whereas Ignite would be the offensive option.

LadyRenly2 votes

exhaust is a nice tool for when someone is too far ahead and is too damaging and too tanky at the same time. but yes, lets make the game more snowbally

ZephyrDrake1 votes

it's 10 armor/mr reduction, i don't really think it matter at all in the long run since the chances of you dying because of that small amount of resistance reduction are next to none. Frankly you could remove it and no one would notice the difference

Spaceman5pff1 votes

10 is a very large amount, especially in the earlygame where the solo lane exhaust cheeses are happening.

i much rather take ignite for early game cheeses than exhaust and the instant a few lvls are gained the amount of armor reduced is negligible. The most it will affect is for those champions with no MR/lvl that don't bother getting MR runes and nothing more

Spaceman5pff1 votes

You clearly haven't suffered from an exhaust cheese by Fiora Jax Quinn Shyvana Udyr XinZhao Yasuo

You lucky, lucky soul

To be fair, Udyr solo lane isn't really common, but the cheese fuckin hurts

i have not seen a single person using exhaust to cheese the early lvls, not in my games nor in the high elo games i watch. Cheese is just that cheese. Sometimes it works most of the times it doesn't

Faceroll Tactics1 votes

I don't consider sacrificing teleport to be more safe a cheese. When I take exhaust it's usually against bullshit- I mean pantheon

Spaceman5pff1 votes

I just kinda gave up on TP for non tanks. Channel takes so goddamn long now it just feels like shit to use.

are you using exhaust explicitly to 1v1 pantheon at lvls 1~5? or are you using it to survive against him. There is a difference between "cheese" and surviving you know

Faceroll Tactics1 votes

I use it in case he all ins me and I can't run away. Also since he has the highest base move speed of any champion it's good for ganks.

A FLUFFY BUNNY 11 votes

I just it on most of my JGs. It helps in early ganks and if you get caught 1v1 in the jg. But hey. I'll Ignight you just as fast if this item was nurfed. Makes no difference to me. That would be the next thread you would see...nurf Ignight

I would be more than happy to discuss this with you if I could read your post.

The slow would prevent the enemy from escaping

Since 10 armor and mr is reduced, assuming the enemy has 700 hp and 10 armor, 70 hp has been removed (0.1*700) effectively. That's still a lot, and the extra damage from ignite is made up from the extra hits you get from the slow.

Exhaust guarentees the kill more in my opinion

Clementine1 votes

Yeah exhaust is super OP, how dare it be used to have Khazix not oneshot your adc??

Supreme Senpai692 votes

I personally don't agree with the OP but you're using a fallacy. What he wants to happen is it removing the armor/MR reduction, not the damage/movement speed reduction. This has no bearing on a Khazix being able or unable to oneshot your ADC. If anything, the Khazix or his support that is taking exhaust to help one shot your ADC now cannot do that.

Clementine1 votes

Then it needs compensation buffs it the armour/mr is being removed

Supreme Senpai693 votes

"Maybe increase the dmg reduction it gives and remove the armor/mr removal?"

I don't mean to be rude but he did clearly say that in the post. It was a pretty short post too. Reading things before discussing them is important lol

Backup4now1 votes

You state that it's overpowered, then literally 4 words later mention "increase the dmg reduction" in combination of the removal of the armor/mr as a sort of compensation buff. What are you, Riot Games? If something is overpowered, it doesn't get compensation buffs with the removal of something.

Iźuku Midoriya1 votes

They should make it scale. Its very strong early when dueling or trading and if you ask me falls off late

SzGamer2271 votes

What I don't understand is why Exhaust has an attack speed slow on top of reducing damage dealt. It's a spell with too many effects as-is, and they decide to make auto-attack-reliant champions especially useless when exhausted instead of being a universal shut-down that doesn't discriminate ability vs. basic damage.

A FLUFFY BUNNY 11 votes

Making it just a slow is pointless. It would never be used again. Ignight and flash would be the only spells you will ever see.

Tempist1 votes

Yeah, I'm going to agree with Scarra here that Exhaust needs some heavy nerfs. It is a completely overloaded summoner spell - damage reduction, attack speed reduction, movement speed reduction, and armor + MR reduction. Compare that to Ignite or Barrier, or even Heal.

You can remove the armor/MR shred and the slow, and Exhaust would still be a completely viable and powerful spell. Heck, you could even remove the attack speed slow on top of that and it would _still _ be used. Lategame the percent damage reduction is unparalleled in its effectiveness, even without all the other modifiers.

dominusx2 votes

exhaust op? why? because the 0-16 support can press it on the 10-2 toplaner and throw him out of the game instantly? kappa

Onkel Malte1 votes

when i was starting to play league i thought nasus W would reduce resistances and not his E...just because rotting defenses would actually be more thematic.

the damage reducion is the worst part of it already
