Unfortunately, turrets have been weak for long period of time and they still rather released Demolish Rune, so it seems they are fine with it and will only weaken them so that games last 5 minutes and people won't complain about the experience system. The system won't be a problem If you get 10 games worth of experience in one hour, kek.

Also, people will be kept pleased about the entertainment value of LC$ due to not any overly long matches - win-win.

Only thing that is missing is the turret text change: "Bonus gold for first paper crumpled".

Simmoniana5 votes

Because if you buff towers turtling becomes very convenient to dragg out a game. In season 5 towers were tankier, mages didn't get bonus damage on towers and they had more armor. You had no earth dragons or baron minion buff.

The result was that people just kept turtling with 2 tanks and an AP waveclearer. So it was really easy to dragg a game to 40 minutes and kind of ''reset'' the early game advantage of the other team.

Stuff like demolish was added to help out tanks a bit since they have the least tools to splitpush out of all roles (except support). Basically what Riot wanted to do with the new rune system is give every class of champion (bruiser, tank, adc , apc , support) a way to snowball and carry the game if they're doing well. Which is much more fun and rewarding to play.

"mages didn't get bonus damage on towers and they had more armor. You had no earth dragons or baron minion buff. "

So if now we have all of that why not just revert the nerfs.

In S7 you couldn't push down a tower with 2 people at level 5 from from 100% in less time than it took your lane opponents to resapwn and run back. It's one thing for towers to be so strong that it's difficult to press an advantage, it's another for a single kill at level 5 to dictate who wins. I finally got a chance to play a lot last night and in almost every game people were knocking on inhib towers between 10-15 mins. The snowballing is absurd, and the towers more pathetic than ever even without Demolish.

I don't blame Rito, this is what preseason is for. But this absolutely has to be fixed before S8 starts.

THIS. Jungler comes bot @Lvl 3-6, Tower dives with the two bot laners, kills ADC or support. Minions push forward, all three back off for a moment then tower dive whoevers left if they havn't backed off. Tower is down to less then 1/4 health by time the first person gets back, forced to wait for the lane partner or get dived then loose the tower. Second person gets back in time to see the tower go down. Loosing tower team at ~4-5. Team that took tower at ~6-7.

That's every couple of games for me. That's why I took a break for a few months.

AonDor1 votes

I feel you, except in that case your team (or their team) is failing to react - three people tower dive two people. At least two of them will be brought moderately low, and the dive won't be instant. This should give time for your mid laner, your jungler and maybe even your top to come down. (top w/ tp). Now they are in an equal or losing fight - they are low, and you (mid laner, top, jg) are not- you have tower too. If this is deciding a game for you, it's partly a failure on your team's side.

Catberry1 votes

Mid way into Season 8 and towers are still pathetic. This is honestly getting a little ridiculous. I understand wanting to balance around pro-play, but ignoring your solo-queue demographic in such a way that adversely effects the balancing of the game in such a negative way is just silly.

Imo, buff towers (to Season 5 levels) and reduce the strength of Demolish and Baron early at the very least.

The Oasis1 votes

Idk. The game may still be a bit more snowballey than I'd like, but imo it's no where near preseason levels of absurdity. Towers may still be a bit weak, but I haven't been seeing regular 6-8 minute first tower bloods. Nor have I been seeing two level 5 champs 100-0 turrets in the time it takes a champ to respawn and run back.

StoryDuck5 votes

I welcome the ability to turtle a little. You should be able to make meaningful defensive choices for your tower but as of now? You can't do anything. There is no meaningful decision to be made with defending towers except "Do we trade towers to keep gold even" Towers have become a beacon of how to snowball and although that is healthy in a way its been taken too far.

Corriandr1 votes

The ability to play defensively would make me so happy. There are many champions who relied on that, the ability to be defensive and get to late game. The trade off was you sacrificed jungle and objective (baron) control. Now? There is no such thing as defensive, there is no such thing as late game. Those champions are practically non-existent and/or extremely rarely actually reach their "fantasy" power and gameplay that Riot crows so much about when they remake kits.

Not xPeke1 votes

that's the point... mages didnt get bonus damage, towers were tankier, they were not affected by ar/mr pen, there was no earth dragons or baron minion buff, etc etc.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY add ALL of these changes then?? One thing is making towers somewhat easier to take so we can avoid tower turtling for too long. Another thing is doing what Riot did and made towers like paper by adding ALL of the above instead of just some of them...

You have a point, and so did Riot, but they clearly overdid it. And the frustrating thing is that it's very clear yet they don't do, or even comment on it, anything about it.

General Esdeath 2 votes

Hold on, playing safe is a bad thing now. You sound like the kind of guy who says "OK I'm 0-4 but if I let that Riven kill me again I'll lose. I gotta shut her down, now! i'm going all in!"

Ęsdeath16 votes

I genuinely managed to deal 1094 damage with a single hit using the Demolish Rune with Ornn. I swear, I bet that even a Caster Minion replacing Towers would be way more useful.

Owyn6 votes

10 minute games won't help cuz the less time game was palyed the less exp you get, so you won't get much more

ArbiterOfTruth4 votes

At this point I'm surprised they bother having turrets and don't just outright remove them. Actually I think I do know why they keep them. It's so one team can snowball off the gold.

EternalSaiyan21 votes

There are turrets in this game???? All this time i thought i was protecting wet toilet paper.... [sg-janna]

Catberry1 votes

Next April Fools, if the turrets are still in this state, they should release a skin for them: paper mache towers. It would be more accurate than what they are now.

My Names Gumbas19 votes

Yeah they should totally buff towers. Tower should be those scary ass buildings that you should be afraid of and actually need to take opportunities and group up to destroy. Right now they're just those stuff you take down every once in a while.

Inari Fox Orrion3 votes

People call them "poppable loot chests" for a reason.

EternalSaiyan11 votes

To be very honest i think it takes longer for 1 or 2 teamates to kill a super minion than it takes them to kill a tower. Wish i was joking.

Catberry1 votes

Unfortunately, this is very accurate. Wouldn't be surprised if super minions do more damage than turrets now, too.

they need to add the slow on turret hits back

ZT Xperimentor2 votes

I'd settle for the reduced damage, actually made assassins & marksmen have to wait for tanks before diving.

PhoenixwingzZ6 votes

You'd think that if there were more people playing league that they need to make games ever longer to delay people from getting to the end of the whole experience without being displeased.

In short, if turrets did more damage, applied more on-hit effects as you took down more towers, and finally made the two towers guarding the Nexus a real threat to take out, this game could see a new light. I'd personally love League if the two towers guarding the Nexus were like Barad - dur from The Lord Of The Rings, while external towers were the weakest.

I think towers could use a massive buff to equalize the new rune system. Imagine if the second towers did slow+extra damage, tower after that did slow+extra damage+ bleed effect, and the last two did massive damage+Magic damage+Burn damage? that would be very cool. It would bring this new kind of strategy where items have to be bought AND SOLD IN EXCHANGE FOR OTHERS in order to effectively win games, rather than whoever buys the most into end-game.

ForFoxSakes6 votes

At this point I'd rather have a couple super minions guarding the base rather than turrets

Jefftiffy5 votes

I think the problem is Riot seems to think we want more ways to tear down turrets.

Example: Demolish

I just want to be able to leave lane at least 2 times and not lose tower. All I really want from towers. Is for them to last longer than 2 pushes and maybe just maybe add a slight champion only damage buff (I'm talking like a 30 base damage buff) to them to make them scarier against dives but not too oppressive.

ModCaptainMårvelous1 votes

Actually, being able to take towers is one of the things that make ranged champions so much better than melee. They can rack-up damage on a tower without having to be worried. The idea behind demolish (A tanky character can do significant damage to a tower that's on-par with a ranged carry) isn't necessarily a terrible idea.

That said, towers are probably on the weak side, although the way to buff them isn't clear-cut. Damage? Ramping damage? Penetration? Tower HP? Tower stats? Maybe make the mid/inhib/nexus turrets get buffs based on killed towers? etc. We can say towers are weak but I don't think we should just raw-buff the stats.

Catberry1 votes

Put them in the state they were in early S5. They honestly need buffs in all areas. Damage alone won't cut it.

Acheron162 votes

Just had a game were we lost tower at 5 minutes.

Can't we just reduce all damage dealt by fucking 30%? The game has never been this bad.

Penta Penguin2 votes

Super Minions do alot of damage... that's the point.

I mean at least complain about the new Demolisher rune or something

Torterra622 votes

i remember not long ago all people would complain about is that towers are too weak and games are too short. good thinking by riot to add the demolish rune and other runes that make getting kill allow you to snowball harder than before. and no runes to stall snowballers

Corriandr2 votes

Riot added Zigg's tower execute waaaaaaay before these things, back when they first turned towers into their current state and people began complaining about it. In fact, it was at the height of the discussion about towers being as strong as, and as durable as, wet tissue paper that Riot then added the Zigg's tower execute as a middle finger to explain exactly what they thought about that. It's been comparatively quiet since then.

Raiyza2 votes

Towers need to attack champions faster. That's all they need to do.

A super minion is punishment for allowing an inhibitor to die. But towers are too weak to stop tower dives early game.

MOuHahaHAhahaaaa1 votes

If they don't like turrets they should bring back malphite ad... 2 shots old turrets in late i think that with new turrets it would be a one shot ;) !

Everything in this game is getting ruined by the fact that riot isn't a game industry anymore but a money maker which uses a game like EA Games does...

plot twist: Syndra item 3092 item 2045 item 3020 support im jking

n even if it was tru dis stills means tower's way too weak

TheHappyReaperz1 votes

What would you suggest? More tower health? Higher resists? Moar damage? A combination of the three? Or something else?

TruelyTrueTrueth4 votes

more health and more resist and have the nexus towers deal more damage to minions

TheHappyReaperz1 votes

Then people would just turtle under their tier twos. Adding defensive stats to towers just increases the efficiency of a turtling strategy, which although good at dragging out the game, often isn't fun for either team. With Nexus turrets, if they did more damage to minions, it would be harder to farm under turret, as any AOE waveclear you had would have to be timed properly. Increasing their damage to minions also decreases the worth of super minions, which gives you less reason to go for inhibitors.

AleksaTeemo1 votes

Dives are still possible, but at least you need a really good dive. And 2 people wont destroy it in first 5 minutes of the game.

TruelyTrueTrueth2 votes

when minions are at the nexus turrets you shouldnt even be trying to cs instead you should try to defend it so thats out of your arguement and less reason to go for inhib? you need to go for inhib to get turrets and destroy nexus turrets are already weak minions plus champions nexus turrets will still fall just not as fast as they are right now(if changes are made)which is a good thing

TheHappyReaperz1 votes

When minions are at your Nexus turrets, and you are behind, how do you think you are going to get back in the game? By farming. With inhibs, it lowers the value of inhibs, meaning instead of going through and breaking every inhib, to get supers in every lane, you'd just break one and push to end.

TruelyTrueTrueth1 votes

"break one and push to end." thats harder than you think and there are already some games that are able to go like that and if people are not going to break more inhibs or pressure other lanes that thats stupid because breaking one adnd pushing to end is gonna be a bit harder since the other towers or nexus tower would be tougher than current towers

and again when minions are right up to nexus tower your priority should be to defend it not wait around to last hit it because that would be stupid. Plus by just being there you already get XP to level up im pretty sure i know what im talking about because some parts of what you're saying doesn't make sense and your not really thinking about it your just scratching the surface

towers are weak and need to be buffed one way or another because right now sometimes it takes 2 champions longer to kill a super minion than it does a turret

Mystic Blue Fox1 votes

I would have to agree strongly with your statement.

By referencing to past seasons, the tower balance has often been very inconsistent in their strengths and weaknesses. I do not know what sort of methods Riot can bring as new changes for this, but there is little that can be done due the the nature of the way League of Legends is balanced. I believe a balance between the two aspects is what would be most effective. Preventing early demise, but never stagger the end of the match for too long.

Perhaps a reduction in the damage the minions deal to towers may be considered.
