Concerning the new Taliyah changes, are people just doing it wrong?

Before the changes, players would W-E for any hope of landing their combo, insuring a good deal of mana was spent trying to pull it off. Are players still following that direction of thought, because it'd seem like you'd fish for shots with E, then if you feel good about an E, quickly throw out the W.
