Now that the game is skill-shot based...

It's time for east coast servers.

You spend so much effort tweaking champions to ensure balance, but you continue to look the other way when it comes to the greatest imbalance in the game. And the game is getting to the point where it matters more than ever. The point-and-clicks are gone. Reaction is crucial, and a few milliseconds are the difference in a fight, and in a game.

There is a reason pro players/streamers go nuts when they encounter anything above 60 ping. It makes THAT BIG of a difference. You can't continue to boast this as a competitive game when half the player base has such a big advantage. There's no asterisk on your profile that says "plays with 100+ ping". Everyone is assumed to be on a level playing field, even though they are not.

I know every time this gets brought up you make some false promise and sweep the issue under the rug. But for those of us who enjoy playing ranked, we have had enough. We want to play a fair game, not a rigged one. This has been the game's biggest flaw for a long time, and now it's time to fix it.

Important information: the team that balances champions is separate from the team that designs skins which is separate from the team that updates champions which is separate from the team that is working on making a centralized server.

It's great that they're working on improving performance for all players. But this does not solve the problem. Reducing east coast ping by 10-20 means nothing when they started at 110+.

Also just from browsing the comments I found:

"98038 near the Seattle Bridge

I've noticed ping spiking from single digit to 20~ during 12:00--1600 on weekends over the past month or so."

Lol this poor guy...

Definitely agree. Every other game has at least 2 NA servers. I don't get how riot can boast to be as big and rich as they claim and not address a glaring need.

FFS they gave Turkey and Japan servers before NA East.

Full on agree. I can't believe sometimes when someone makes a reaction to my play faster than I can see my play happening because their ping is less than half of mine. It's really frustrating when you know you're capable of making a play to win a fight and your ping prevents you from dodging a skillshot or using an ability before you get stunned, etc... and you end up dying instead.

As a fast-paced game where milliseconds make a huge difference, having around 80-90 ping on average with occasional spikes to 140 up as high as 300 (seemingly unrelated to my internet and rather based on when the servers are busy) is probably several tiers worth of difference (like silver 1 to plat 4 skill level difference) (that's arbitrary, I have no idea what the difference actually is).

I used to believe I was a very bad player. Then I realized I usually have lags. Even if those are just the half-a--second-delay ones. But that makes all the difference when it comes to skillshots.

except none of the highest winrate champions except blitz have any skillshots lmao

"No, ping means jackshit!" http://www.nerfplz.com/2013/07/correlation-between-wards-ping-and-elo.html Kind of old but still makes a point. Probably wingsofdeath complaining that the game at 60 ping is unplayable means nothing. Or that with 40~50 ping lee sin ward hop is instantaneous and with 80 ms means a cluncky animation with lots of counterplay Vs insec. But yeah, East coast players are just babies that complaing about ping diferences...

i think in season 2 is when there used to be a way to see others ping. Don't know why they took that off.
