Hard for me to fully understand why people think trundle's ult is such a hard counter to tanks

bramble vest/thornmail and adaptive helm can basically render it useless with either one of them alone taking a decent amount of power away from it.

Thornmail and Adaptive Helm don't prevent the HP and Resistances from being sucked off of the tank, dude.

Trundles Ultimate counters Single Tank Team Compositions because it completely ruins the role of that one player.

um no that is false. ive played rammus into an underfed trundle 1--5 I was 6-1-8. with thornmail cinderhulk and a randuins he ulted and was literally fucking me so hard. even with my w reflect he destroyed the shit outta me.

trundle counters tanks not because he can drain their hp, but more about their armor/mr

Trundles Ult is pretty good in 1v1s, and yeah, adaptive helm or bramble vest reduces it's power there.

But the reason people say it counters tanks is that it shreds a huge amount of their resistances and allows Trundle's team to take them out way more efficiently, while giving trundle the tank stats to keep their backline busy.

The reality though is that trundle's ultimate wrecks 1-tank teams, it's much weaker against a team with multiple tanks.

Trundle hard counters tanks because his ultimate takes stats from the tank and puts it on trundle. Meaning he takes a lot less while the tank is taking a lot more. That's why he hard counters them.
