The Tank/Top problem can be almost 100% solved in 2 easy steps

  1. Give Bruisers a keystone (in process, but delayed wayyyy to much to even be remotely acceptable)
  2. Don't slap cdr on almost every fcking item in the game, especially for tank items

Seriously, outside a few special tanks that might need a tweak after these changes, things would be fine.

But, as with most of my posts/comments that don't involve statistics, this is my opinion. What are you guys' thoughts? How would you handle this?

Please keep in mind this is a balance discussion, not a gameplay health discussion. Whether you like tanks or not doesn't hold any relevance, it's about balancing them and not gutting them.

Edit: I should specify im talking about tanks and their domination in top. Not necessarily tank supports or top lane's influence around the map.

All tanks just need to have their early game damage reduced and their scaling increased. That way, they are still somewhat of a threat later in the game, but not oppressive with their high base stats early.

Example:

80/120/160/200/240 -----------------> 60/105/150/195/240

Take 20 off of rank 1, and give +5 scaling. Its overall lower at every rank beyond 5.

Do this with most (if not all geeze...) tank damage abilities and they will be forced to play the "survive and farm" early game, like a tank should, instead of being a lane bully that is also a tank.

and then nobody picks a tank ever and just picks tanky champions that offer some form of CC or just get CC from some other place (which is very easily achievable)

Some tanks fit your description but not all tanks have that early damage. So you should not have a tank nerf. Also, moving any champ to a late game champ right now is a death sentence with how fast most games end now. If all tanks were "late game" everyone would just start playing high dps champs with tanky gear. Bruisers would largely become the new problem.

Tanks aren't supposed to have early damage. They are already more durable than other champions. They shouldn't be able to be lane bullies and late game indestructible tanks.

High early game champions like Renekton are supposed to be the lane bullies, because they fall off late game hard if they don't push their advantage early.

You are right, not ALL tanks fit this description, but Maokai, Ornn, Malphite, etc do. For as tanky as these guys can be late game, they are far too strong early. Their cc is more than enough early game to help with ganks, secure kills, and stay safe.

So I main Camille out of top lane, and no lie the most effect first buy these days in most of my games is legit.item 3123 . Counter any sustain from tanks, counter the starting tank item, and the 3 pots. if they stack armor, ill build the mortal reminder, <<<<<< that's the name I like. although, doing this can hurt team fighting early but I mostly split push so w/e.
