Tahm Kench is the only viable ADC counterplay to Vi

Literally nothing else works.

We have a champion requirement to peel before there's anything else to stop her from diving your ADC, because cleanse and Mikael's do not even stop her.

I'm curious as to why this is the way it is.

Here's the thing with Vi's ultimate: What if she targets you, but you dive WAY into your backline so that her teammates can't reach you/her in time before your teammates slaughter her? You just need to avoid being one-shotted by her (not too hard) and she just blew it big time.

That's an indirect solution to the problem though - that means you have to rely on your team to help you with the Vi on top of you, and even if they do that, Vi is basically immobilizing you to the point where you are vulnerable to every other form of CC/assassination on the other team, and she is typically bulky enough to keep alive while on you while waiting for her team to arrive.

Most other "jump on you with CC" moves have some form of counterplay - whether it be QSS or cleanse, or Mikael's, you can definitely escape a Warwick or Malzahar suppress when they're on you, or stopping a Leona ult after it hits you. But Vi has never really seen this happen, there is no real way to reliably stop her.

Exactly. TEAM GAME, bro.

l Main Renekton1 votes

TEAM GAME where ONE team member can reliably set you up for death by pressing R once and you, have to sit back and watch yourself die unless you get matched with a team that knows how to handle it.

Pro players know how to handle Vi. If you don't, that's one reason why you're not in a pro circuit.

Vi is BALANCED FOR PRO PLAY. Pubs? Your problem.

"team that knows how to handle it"

As in a communal effort of the team. They all are pro players - they know how to handle it, of course, because they're all at the highest level of play. That doesn't mean it's not toxic for everyone else in the game.

This is becoming a circlejerk argument, so I'll conclude with "GET BETTER".

Wait what you just want me to sit back once Vi ults and let her kill me? XD Sorry, I know this is old but if you can there are a number of ADC's that can kinda counter this. Ashe can ult her and get away, Jinx can E her and run, lucian can I guess E away once her let is done and let behind him to do a good chunk of damage, Sivir can spell shield and ult away, Miss Fortune can use her E as a slow and try to escape, Graves can w her to make her blind and dash away and start escaping, Twitch is a little squishy but just activate your Q, use BotRK active and stealthily get away, Caitlyn can use her trap under neath herself and E away, Ezreal could always q and w while she's coming to him and try to E away after the knockup, Vayne can get ulted and either use her E, Q and Ult to escape or kill Vi, Draven can try to kite and get away or E once her let is done and use w to try and GTFO, Corki can use his slow and w away, Kalista can bring her bound support to help her and try to bounce away and maybe kill her, Quinn is the best at this as she can Q her so her e's do basically nothing, E away from her, and ult if she has to in order to escape, Tristan can wait until he let ends, Ult Vi away and w out of there, Varus can ult her and use E as a slow while he runs, idk he might be able to kill Vi and yeah that's kinda all the Meta ADC's. Not to mention supports that can help.

Vayne is a pain to deal with when playing vi. She knocks you away, tumbles back and all your gap closing is useless because she can kite you.

Because Vi is a "balanced" champion that promotes "healthy" gameplay. 200 damage E at rank 1 balanced my ass.

ZileanUltJesusOP1 votes

her e doesnt do 200 damage at rank one mate lol

Tell that to my health bar

ZileanUltJesusOP1 votes

To Juggernaut628'S health bar,

the scaling ratio and damage for vi's level 1 e is as follows

5+(1.15 AD) If vi has 85 AD it does 102.75 damage or about 91 with standard armor runes

Because Vi's ultimate is a gap closer.

I mean, there are ways to counter it, but generally the adc class is supposed to be relatively immobile with options to reduce/eliminate cc, but not everything under the sun. I'll give you knockups are a bitch, but that's not specific to Vi.

l Main Renekton1 votes

Well, we're in a meta where mobility is a defining characteristics of a champion, the reason why dashes like those of Graves and Lucian make them so powerful, and Kalista's mobility can make her miserable to play against altogether. They don't fit into the typical "immobile" type of ADC's like Jinx, Ashe, Kog Maw, you know... all of them.

That makes sense, you'd pick those champions because if not, well that makes the assassin's job easy. You can QSS or cleanse a lot of things that can easily kill you or have a support like Thresh peel for you against a standard assassin, but fighters like Vi offer literally no counterplay when diving into your ADC until the release of this new champion.

Might as well complain about all the stealth champions. They get to your back line, albeit in a more subtle way, and they can even change their minds about it while Vi can't.

l Main Renekton1 votes

But they don't bring a level of unstoppable CC to your ADC which forces them to sit still and watch themselves die with nothing to do about it. You can play against stealth, even though it can be tricky, they're not guaranteed a free trip to your backline like Vi is, and they don't CC your ADC for a ridiculous time like Vi does.
