Do we really want Veigar to be an antimage?

I think that if Veigar has ever to be nerfed, the thing that veigar players are the least looking for in him is an anti-mage identity, so rather than taking away his other numbers, if anything hit him on the enemy AP ratio.

To be honest, I like to pick Veigar because I am tired of seeing weeb ass Ahri picks. Fox gotta die.

I approve

he is not an antimage. Old kassadin was an antimage. Veigar is a burst mage. honestly, I think they should just get rid of the 80% target ap scaling and increase the AP ratio.

Veigar, too, is an antimage. Instead of countering magic damage, he explodes AP carries.

FOOL! Veigar explodes EVERYONE! All hail our Dark Lord! Veigar Cackle cackle cackle.

Exactly, Veigar is a burst mage, he's supposed to blow up everything, not just burst mages. I think having a better passive and run oom less oftern instead of the enemy AP scaling would be better.

Only his ult gets the bonus scaling off enemy AP. Otherwise it still has a 100% AP ratio (and 500 base damage at level 3), and so does his W, making it pretty easy to blow away pretty much anyone, regardless of whether or not they have a bunch of AP. What more do you want?

Nothing atm, I'm just saying that the enemy AP scaling is the least interesting part of his kit, so if the likely upcoming nerf were to take that away, in exchange of for example more passive regen, I wouldn't feel so affected, and I was asking if people agreed with me. Apparently no one can read well enough to agree or disagree with what I said but prefers to argue about different topics.

Nik Nikerson1 votes

My point was, if he needs to be nerfed, taking away the enemy scaling AP doesn't really accomplish much, as he doesn't rely on it to be effective, so eliminating that portion of his identity doesn't really accomplish that much. Also, you aren't talking about nerfing him. What you're suggesting is at best shifting power around and more likely than not, making him even better, not reeling in his power level. So I'm disagreeing with that. Sorry if I didn't state that clearly enough.

They remove the 80% target scaliing and they make him useless, hes the answer to many mages who jump and run, like ekko, veigar makes him waste his ult early or die, there is no in between.

Good ekkos dont build ap, but ALL ekkos use his Ultimate. Veig forces an early use or a given death

Why are you people so obssessed with nerfing him?!

idk he was played in LCS so i guess hes op

I am not obsessed with nerfing him, please stop making me say what I didn't. I always make these threads: "if he is ever to be nerfed/changed" means THAT, not "nerf him". Stop being bad at reading, people.

The old Veigar was stronger and they nerfed him to the ground... Why should we nerf him again?

Photos of Ghosts1 votes

Because they're going to, I'm just trying to prevent damage by pointing out what we can get rid of without too much pain.

CreationFlaw1 votes

He's fine, it's just trash people not building MR and rushing deathcap into ludens against him or not letting the fighter/tank/bruiser bull rush him to blow his cooldowns,.

Didn't say he isn't, please read again.

Blitz's Ult has the same base damage and self AP ratio as Veigar's Ult with a 30 second cooldown, an AoE roughly the same range as Veig's ult, and passive damage for free every few seconds while off cooldown.

Just something to keep in mind before complaining about one of the two unique parts of Veig's identity.

Did I complain? I was just putting my hands ahead, pointing out what side can be nerfed with minimal damage. Because YOU KNOW they're going to nerf him.

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

You want an unpopular immobile squishy mage to be nerfed down? When actual OP champs like Juggernauts & Fiora exists??

Veigar is actually pretty easy to counter, and his ult doesnt really do that much damage until late game (and maybe parts of mid game) ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AP. In that case, the ult only really tickles, especially with MR. He is only an anti-AP, not anti-mage like the old kassadin as someone mentioned. So just go Zed or something and hope your top or jungle goes AP. You would rek Veigar and deem him utterly useless. Honestly, I play liss against him and even then I have a pretty easy time. Just saying.

Photos of Ghosts1 votes

Never played against him, only played as him. Read again, I'm talking as a Veigar player.

Nik Nikerson2 votes

Just tickles? It's base 250 damage at it's first level with 100% AP scaling. What are you talking about?

Aír1 votes

I mean, it really doesnt if you are not AP. If you are AP it is gonna hurt like hell, but that is the point. Just go a mobile AD assassin on him and Voila! You got his direct counter.

Photos of Ghosts1 votes

It really doesn't what? And I'm not asking how to counter Veigar. I am a Veigar player, not someone who struggles against him. I am asking if we are really that attached to his "antimage" identity. He has a 1:1 ratio on that ult, without the enemy AP scaling. I have no trouble against Zeds or the likes of them. I am saying what I said: if he has ever to be nerfed, IMO the enemy AP scaling is the least necessary thing.

Aír1 votes

I guess. The reason I brought up the different counters was because that is evidence to me about how he does not need a nerf. I think that is why most of us who responded brought up counters because if he is so easily countered, then perhaps he is not as OP as people make him out to be, just versus mages who rush AP and keep letting them get ulted (Like I rush CDR and Mana Regent vs a Veigar).

Veigar isnt really an anti mage, hes an anti carry. There ar many players who decide that if they cant take their lane, they gotta bich out and steal other lane kills, so they get fed like that. Veigar is the answer to fixing that problem. for example: Ahri cant outpush you, so she goes bot, gets a double, on her way back, she finds your jg, gets the kill, Goes B and now shes "fed". MOST people dont know how to fight a fed ahri, so its simple, get a rabadons, and focus Ahri with your ult and CC, shut her down, make her not be able to be usefull in teamfights because after you 2 hit her, shes either dead or with < 100 HP. NO AHRI in their right mind will return to a fight with that much health, so you just made it into a 4v5, and since shes Aoe, and so are you, shes GONNA have to B, or its a kill for your team. The same with Fizz hes trickier, but also very easy. get a zhonyas and BAIT his jump, that way he has no escape, and you can combo right in his face ( no way to dodge unless he flashes, and if he flashes, hes not gonna get close until his ult is back, so you have the advantage) also take advantage on teamfights with him, stay close to whoever he ults, but not close enough to get hit yourself, then make them stand on TOP of your stun, so if he wantts the kill, he HAS to get stuned, or he wasted his ult. Hes the best way to balance out fed mages and assassins, that way you can keep your team "safe".

Photos of Ghosts1 votes

Exactly, he's an anti-carry, he shouldn't care whether his enemy is an AP or AD based threat. When they'll nerf him, which will unfortunately probably happen, I think that the enemy AP ratio is the least necessary part of his kit. I was asking if other Veigar players agreed with me but not a single person that commented read my post correctly.

Early game to most of mid game, it doesn't do much at all. You say 250 damage first level. And that is BEFORE Magic Resist. Before AP you then do approximately 192 magic damage with 30 MR. Add, lets say, 100 ap, and it does 266. Congrats, you did maybe a quarter of an ADC's health, and this is assuming the ADC does not get health runes or MR runes (which I always do), which would then reduce it down to a fifth or less of their health. Sure, might seem like a lot for a normal ability... wait, never mind that is his ultimate. And having any decent amount of health or mr would result in that ult barely hurting early to most of mid game. Late game it hurts, but that is where he is supposed be strong. It is like complaining about Jinx or Vayne being so strong late when we are explicitly informed in both being LATE GAME hypercarries. You can also always Zhonyas his ult even if you do go an AP mid against him anyway and want to rush AP. The missle speed for it is actually pretty slow, and I only noticed this after his animation for his FInal Boss skin made such a fact so obvious.

In the end, those numbers do not mean a lot to me. If I go an AD champ into a Veigar, I will have a field day early to mid game. It is like a nasus: you can keep complaining about how strong he is and how much his Q hurts, but there is a reason he wasn't nurfed either.

Photos of Ghosts1 votes

I am not complaining about either. I am a Veigar player, not a qqer. Read again.

I do not agree. There. Happy now?
