Armor pen, now called Lethality. Is not only for assassins. Loads of chanpions over the years employed armor pen. The rework to lethality, was merely to change who it works well against and how it scales. Not who can take it.

Riven and Fiora have always been capable of being built for burst damage, as some fighters properly are able to. There's nothing wrong with that. They give up staying power and sustained damage against bruisers/tanks in order to function more like an assassin against squishies.

Jhin is a somewhat burst and ability oriented ADC. Some marksmen are like that. There's nothing wrong with them maximizing their burst against squishies if they want to, because they give up sustained damage against everyone else to do it.

Lucian can go either way, but he makes a trade-off to do it. He loses sustained damage and damage against tankier targets.

People were going full damage sion long before lethality was introduced. This is nothing new. If they want to maximize their burst and sacrifice everything else that is their choice.

Darius has similar trade offs. I've seen full damage garens too, not even lethality based. Some people just try to play bruisers as damage dealers. It's not like they don't give up anything to do it.
