On hit items suck
Every on hit champ that's supposed to build on hit, is always better with crit or some sort of Black cleaver / Sterakks gage, because health > burst > dps
A Yi building on hit (blood razor etc) vs a crit yi will always lose

What on-hit itemization really needs is an armor item.
EX:
40%-50% Attack Speed 45 Armor 10% CDR
Passive: Physical damage on-hit
Would really help round out on-hit builds.

I disagree heavily. On-hit is VERY powerful once you get a fully stacked rageblade, but the problem with it is that on-hit lacks AoE. Something that every other marksman has.
Something like... Hydra+recurve bow+amplifying tome+gold = 3400g~3600g item that has the old guinsoos rageblade effect and stacks just like the regular rageblade.
Seems like it would compete with Titanic Hydra. I would probably still build TH on Trundle, but an armor/AS on hit item would smooth my build out nicely.
For example, I could go
+ On-hit armor/AS item.
I kind of wish Riot would give us more items to experiment with, just to see what happens.

It would be a proper AoE item for on-hit, thats for sure. Making it stack with rageblade stacks similar to energized would be a fantastic option as well... And if it doesnt have the increased attack speed, its offensive-only.
yea need more attack speed defensive item an attack speed health item would open the door for wits end to be bought and it doesnt nessicarily need to have another on hit effect but health and attack speed would be nice for fighters but adcs would find a way to break that too
I think it would be fair to say that without a major discrepancy between the effectiveness of melee on-hit and ranged on-hit patterns, ranged on-hit patterns will always be more powerful.
This has led to on-hit items being balanced around those ranged champions.
Late game absolutely he will lose. That is what crit is designed for. But to say on hit items suck altogether is wrong.
Every champion that is supposed to build on hit doesn't? What about Kayle, Teemo, and Kog'Maw? They all build on-hit. I'm sure there are more, but those three are more than enough to disprove your statement.
On hit sucks, because you don't have to do any dps before the enemy team bursts you - it was way better than infernal drakes and thunderlords. Crit is bad vs armor + hp stacking with tabi and 1 or 2 randuins.
On hit yi doesn't feel good anymore because devourer was removed and was put on rage blade (which yi doesn't scale well with ap), and botrk lost attack speed, yi's most important stat.
But the builds have different purposes. On hit is better at tank shred (including epic monsters) and crit is good for one shorting the squishes
I think it's safe to say, melee on hit items need a major damage buff.
Oh Hit has been nerfed quite heavily especially with Fervor no longer being considered an on hit effect. Because of that, it's not very good to build this season overall.
On hit heavily nerfed i agree with that alot. Fervor no being good cant agree with that. On hit damage is substitution for ad basic attack damage to give damage but not give stats to scale with Fervor was changed to not be on hit anymore but the ad itself more than made up for the on hit and as an extra bonus people can scale off of it now 1 with spells and 2 with crit.
