A Twitch player's take on the Twitch changes (long post)
Twitch's Q cooldown now resets on kill or assist. His ult's duration has been lowered from seven to five seconds.
First of all, as a Twitch player, I appreciate and agree with the Q buff, even though it's not the way I would have chosen to buff him. But the ult nerf needs to be reverted
My thinking when I first saw the buff was ''Now when I survive that assassin trying to focus me down in teamfights, I can immediately stealth up to safely plan my next move.''
Riot's thinking behind this buff is to mold Twitch into an assassin. Pop ambush, pop one enemy, and pop back out invisibly. It's nice in theory, but here's why this change is flawed: Twitch cannot assassinate anyone that's not another marksman.
Why isn't Twitch an assassin? Half the champions in this game will just scoff at Twitch and kill him if he appears in front of them because he is so fragile. His basic kit cannot compete with other assassins, mages, bruisers, tanks, even supports can just CC him and run away. So what does Twitch do, you ask? He is a marksman. He dishes out loads of DPS upon the enemy team from beyond the focus range of enemies, with his ultimate. Twitch's basic kit exists only to position, and augment his deadly ultimate. He positions to open up with Q, slows and kills stragglers with W and E.
Twitch also lacks the ability to chase enemies down, unlike every other assassin, and every other reset champ. Hard mobility is key for this. A delayed movespeed buff won't cut it. He can only ambush enemies who don't see him coming, such as when someone is walking back to lane or farming a minion wave and he can walk right up to them.
The third and biggest reason Twitch is not an assassin is because his kit has no burst. (unless you count a 6 stack E but that takes too much time) ''but Twitch has burst! I've seen Twitches three-shot squishies!'' Any champion's damage turns into burst if they are fed enough. Even those with no burst in their kits. It's wrong to count on Twitch being fed for him to assassinate a target.
. The reason his ult needs a longer duration is to preserve his identity, which is being an AoE damage threat against multiple enemies, rather than design him to duel a single target. A five second ultimate with a 100 second cooldown leaves Twitch with a dissapointing amount of down time, and not enough time to work his damage onto multiple enemi3s. The most fun had with the Rat happens while his ultimate is active.
TL;DR: read the whole damn post. If I care about this champ enough to write all this for two more seconds of spray and pray, you can read the entire thing.
