He's not meant to one-shot everyone with his ult. His ulti was designed to be a global finisher. It CAN do a lot of damage, but it was meant to kill an enemy you managed to get low but they still got away. He was failing to do that like he should have been with the older AP Ratio, and they amped it up to let him do what he was designed to.

it's not really meant to execute, if it was made to do that it would have a similar mechanic to veigar ult

It's not an Execute in the mechanical HP ratio sense, but it is intended for finishing off enemies who managed to escape a fight with low HP. It can also be used as a deterrent to turn a tower dive into an enemy death, or in some scenarios you can even use it BEFORE a fight to soften people up for a wombo-combo.

It's more like a GP ulti, used to heavily help with ganks without having to leave lane or used to finsih off targets. Not exclusively to kill low hp targets or he wouldn't be such a huge gem for kr.

With all the glass cannons running around right now he is a boatload of fun. Not to mention now that he hurts again when you see your teammates about to get caught out you can usually scare off the enemy engage by ulting and watch them scurry.

Have you played since rune changes? Basically infinite Q spam in lane past 5 minutes. Best early game wave clear of any mage hands down. The level of CS denial you can get with him by making the opposing mid laner dance the entire time is quite enjoyable. Even if you miss most of them that odd one you hit them solo chunks them for like 20%.

I only got to play Thanksgiving weekend since monitor is busted and had to borrow one, sadly karthus isn't a champion these days that jumps out at me for playing. But that is interesting to hear, thanks for the update.

Think of his Q as more of an ADC's auto attack that has to be manually activated than a spell. One hit isn't anything to write home about, but it shines when you can stack up several of them in succession.

My favorite Karthus moments are when they dive me expecting a kill, but I turn on Defile slam them with Qs then hit Ignite. They shred down faster than they tend to expect. It helps that Karthus is underplayed, so everybody underestimates how much damage he can put out.
