Would the support role be more appreciated if warding and the vision game was emphasized?
I still think the vision game suffers from being uninteractive. Without a handful of specialized items or the Scryer's Bloom, there is no way to interact with wards. IDK how support mains feel about warding, but I like the idea of scouting and spying and engaging in actual stealth (as distinct from invisibility) gameplay. Warding has the potential to be a really high-level strategic minigame - a back-and-forth game espionage and sabotage.
If we look at classic stealth games where the goal is to be sneaky, we can see that League obeys that model. It is beneficial for a player to conceal their movements and intentions around the map, to keep their position unknown. Most wards, with their current functionality, prevent this to a large extent. It is nearly impossible to avoid being seen by something that you can't see and whose position is unknown to you. And whoever adopts the mantle of support is required to sink 800+ gold into an item so that they can participate in the info wars, all while cutting them out of a 'real' item.
Also, I reject Riot's categorization of 'stealth' as invisibility and camouflage. There is stealth and there is invisibility, and that's all, and the two are not the same. Stealth is a mindset and playstyle. Every champion can be stealthy provided your conscientious of your movements. Invisibility is a powerful form of untargetibility that creates ambiguity about your position and causes the affected unit not to appear on the minimap or screen. What Riot calls 'camouflage' is just invisibility with proximity as a parameter. Invisibility is a prerequisite for stealth, but one can be invisible without be stealthy or using stealth.
But anyway, what do you think? What should Riot do to make the vision game more interesting and exciting? What do you think is the future for invisibility, stealth, and wards?
