8.2 Jinx Changes Can Almost Be Considered A Nerf (Coming From A Main's Perspective)

I have mastery 7 on Jinx with a mastery score of 316 and I feel as if these changes are a nerf. I don't know if this qualifies me to say something about this topic but hear me out.

Her base ad was lowered from 66 to 61 and her ad growth went from 2.41 to 2.7, her minigun now scales with level rank (130% attack speed when ability is fully maxed as opposed to scaling with level and ability level so at max 140% attack speed, and her passive can no longer stack but she can break the attack speed cap.

Now even though in total she loses 10% attack speed I think this is a fair trade off and considered a buff is because it allows her to get her attack speed much earlier in the game and have more of a power spike earlier in the game. Although she lost 10% it doesn't make much of a difference. The whole goal was to up her earlier game and maybe she see more play in upper elo's and not nerf her.

The next change is with the attack damage. Although it was a minimal change it is still noticeable when playing the game I don't think it was really a necessary change. The attack speed compensates for the loss of ad early on but as i have noticed certain thing that would have died before (such as cannon minions) often live at 1 hp. For no good reason this weird change is felt all the way up until level 18 when the whole purpose was to make her early overall improved. If you look at the math for previous jinx 2.41x18+66=109.38 and for updated jinx its 2.7x18+61=109.6 the attack damage is less than 1 of a difference gain and you have reduced ad for the whole other levels of the the entire game. While this change wasn't the worse and was meant probably not to overbuff her it wasn't necessary.

And here's the part that puts the icing on the cake for this being a nerf for me. Previous jinx's passive was that she gained 15% attack speed per kill if she did damage within 3 seconds of it being killed. This stacked up as much as the things that were killed and she would get a burst of movement speed that could be reset per kill. The new updated passive only one stack of 15% attack speed can be obtained she still gets speed but now she can break the attack speed cap. While on paper this change sounds good and I was excited to hear about this in reality after playing a few games myself I realized her passive is in fact worse than her previous passive.

Before the update I used to go lethal tempo into domination for the attack speed (inspiration gives 2% more) this along with her passive stacking infinitely allowed jinx to far exceed the attack speed cap having only one attack speed item (item 3085). Jinx could build damage attack faster and break the attack speed across the whole span of the game (depending on how much people you can land and assists on (And not TOO EARLY in the game). With the build of item 3085 and item 3006 much earlier the attack speed cap could be broken using lethal tempo and enough passive kills. Sometimes I didn't even bother to buy boots and the attack speed cap was being broken.

With the new update jinx however you only have a attack speed steroid of 15% no matter how many champions killed and relies much more on items to build. Going down precision and domination (now taking press the attack since her passive breaks cap) with minigun maxed out and 3 attack speed items item 3085 item 3094 item 3006 and one passive stack she only gets to 2.55 attack speed. On this champion having any more attack speed items would be absurd as she already attacks super fast. The passive helps her break the cap but just by barely and at the cost of an item slot that could be used for damage when before damage could be built instead of that attack speed item and break the cap by much further and had flexibility with the amount of attack speed steroid stacks. So for the passive to be in effect you must sacrifice an item slot for more attack speed and have the required items to break the attack speed cap while making sure you are buying your items in the correct order of need (which probably is not buying another crit and attack speed item after you just bought one and could instead get lifesteal). And for all of this you are only rewarded with .5 extra attack speed over the limit. When I do this new build path in the order of item 3031 item 3085 item 3006 item 3072 item 3094 (situational). I don't get to buying item 3094 till level 16 with a reasonable amount of cs having an average kda. At this point at level 16 previous jinx that scaled with level gained the same amount of attack speed with minigun (130%) and could more easily break the attack speed cap without sacrificing another items slot for attack speed.

Tl;dr: New Jinx changes almost feels like they could be considered a nerf if it wasn't for the minigun change. The attack damage nerf wasn't needed and adds unnecessary trouble early which doesn't fix till 18 with no reward. Her new passive overall causes her to sacrifice an item slot at level 16 for attack speed to break the cap by .5 when before with only item 3006 item 3085 and with the right amount of passive stacks jinx could break that attack speed earlier and by much more without buying another attack speed item and building damage or some other situational item.

A Nerf? Seems like after the changes Jinx in now a pick or ban.

And her snowballing get's completely out of control.

Personally, I feel that Jinx is substantially stronger with the current changes. I don't need to run Lethal Tempo anymore, and can take other runes to make up for the lowered base AD. Popping off after a kill feels so great.

Fellow jinx main with about the same amount of mastery points, and I don't like two things about the new change. It made her weaker early (where she needs help) and it turned her into a pick or ban. Still a nice buff though.

Completely agree so far. Seems much weaker in lane, can't get control early as easily or push back onto tower. Which negates that first tower advantage, which then slows transition to mid. Also find clearing jungle between roams is much slower and just feel like perma falling further and further behind all game now.

I can see it working with good support/team but bad players is virtually impos!

statistically

she went from 50% win rate and 7-8% pick rate, to 50% win rate and 20% pick rate

nothing changed with jinx, it's not a nerf or a buff

the only thing that changed is that now she's viable in ultra high elo while not being overbearing in low elo
