Thank you riot for getting rid of the Penalty on Support..... but why a Nami Buff?

Okay

  1. Riot on PBE has removed the 1000 Quest Minion Penalty from support items. YAY! Now my post 1000g Senna or Morgana won't be forced to gain only 7 gold a minion they kill, and people who play support won't feel like the game is over when they can no longer scale to buy items.

  2. Why is Riot messing with Nami, and making her E effective on spells? The change literally means that I can abate from auto attacking, E myself, and use Q or W and do enhanced damage. It also means I can use W as a relatively long distance SLOW. This is going to vault her already good win rates up to Senna levels.

I don't want to see my fishy fish dish getting perma banned or reworked in some abusive ways, just because Riot won't reneg on their adjustment! The only purpose of the E chant I can see is to balance her out as a multi-laner. It means she might be able to Mage top or mid a little better (even though her kit is a bit awkward as a laner due to her base AD ratios, and the fact Q is one of the most awkward solo lane skills to use, since it takes so much predictive play)

(P.S. Why do boards not have Nami stickers yet?)

Don't Worry as long as senna and blitz/naut are around, Nami will never be a ban pick.

She is one of those champs that slide under the radar even though she has the ability to turn the "tide" in a team fight pretty easily.

If Nami is getting her E to buff spells then maybe Riot are trying to open enchanters to supporting mages?

Would like to see enchanters able to buff classes other than the Marksmen/Ad-fighter.

They're doing it so you can use it on your team's mages for her passive without using a high-cost W suboptimally more than anything. It's not going to vault her up to Senna levels. She'll still have heavy mana issues.

Just read through the changes - it seems like we are getting a bit of common sense back on the support side of things. I looked at the math on Nami and the history of the changes - it looks a bit like the Nami change is part of a grander scheme on the enchanter support front (think of the recent Soraka and Janna changes as part of it and maybe we need to keep an eye on Lulu in the near future). So, I am holding back on my criticism of the PBE experiment for now. Let's see what the Riot dev cards are for supports...

P.S. Funny how the entire thread had + 19 votes and in 1 hour swung to -48. Way to go trolls :)

I'd wait to see the final changes. Sadly, this company hasn't been "great" at balancing (nor designing) for years, and the current state of the game speaks by itself, so I'm pretty worried.

Some people say that Nami is just a better version of Sona, and they nerfed Sona a while ago. I don't think they've taken into account this either.

No ward bots anymore yay.

The Nami Buff is wow...seems pretty strong. If it hadn't the non champion reduced dmg it would have been interesting in a Nami Mid perspective.

They are buffing one of the most balanced champs in the game? Riot, come on. You made a good champ, that takes skill and is fair to both the user and enemy fighting against her.

excelsheet112/12/2019, 6:18:06 PM1 votes

Probably so you can play nami with a mage carry. Makes perfect sense. Making a champion abilities not useful really isn't a buff, it's more of a hotfix.

If anything her e should add a root if all of its bubbles hit one Target

nami was supposed to be a damage support but she cant dish out much damage so i think riot trying to make her more effective as damage instead of just heals... buffing her W would make her annoying to deal when she deals so much dmg with W and heal at same time so they buffed E

So her E works on spells? That opens her up to supporting non AA characters, like mages. That sounds like it could make for fun lanes.

Tomoe Gozen12/12/2019, 6:15:54 PM1 votes

Nami gets E on spells because on the champions that don't AA, it's effectively useless unless you cast it on them for the MS bonus. This way, the use cases for her E extend to more teammates who use their brains too and not just their bran.

Nami's not gonna be pick/ban because now she's gonna be "able to" harass with spells. She can already do that.
