A guide on how to play safe and freeze in lane

This method makes you very safe from jungle ganks and it is hard for your lane opponent to kill you.

iI am not too good at this but this is just a general idea, go search some video on youtube if you want a visual detailed guide.

  1. Don't hit the enemy minion, only take last hits. This will build up the enemy minion wave.
  2. Let the built up minion wave slowly push pass through the river in front of your tower range. wait for the minion wave to come and stop the enemy wave from pushing, if there isn't a minion wave of yours, tank the minions if possible.
  3. at this point you should have a big enemy minion wave in front of your tower but not in tower range, with a lot of casters and few melees. Now slowly kill off the casters while taking last hit because else the wave will be too big and it will crash into your tower.
  4. ward tri bush, and ward at dragon/rift herld pit of river if you are side lane. for mid lane ward the small river bushes.

if you execute this properly, you should be under your tower last hitting for free while the enemy can't make agression on you.

The first time I got to B2 after struggling in B5 was by abusing freezing. It's really effective.

Honestly you're right, most of the time it is right to freeze wave as there is no reason to push it early. You have more kill potential and you are less likely to get ganked. HOWEVER, there are instances where pushing is beneficial, usually when you're up against a champ that needs to use their abilities to cs under tower.

If you push the first wave into Xerath level 1 two things can happen. He will use his abilities to cs (he will probably miss some anyways) or he will not which will cause him to miss 50-70% of the minion wave. Even if he does use his abilities he will waste A LOT of mana, minimizing his poke and all in potential. You can also do this for the next couple of waves. Pushing early can generate you a big lead in certain matchups.

Actually it is very hard to shove a xerath.

It depends. But you get my point. Making the enemy laner lose mana/gold can be a result of pushing. A better example would be Twisted Fate vs Syndra, where it would be best for Twisted Fate to red card and push the wave early.
