I like the Nautilus changes

But why is his damage being lowered so much?

Nautilus Titan's Wrath (W) damage while shielded decreased to 15/30/45/60/75 from 40/55/70/85/100

That's a pretty unnecessary drop. It was his biggest source of damage contribution and it disappeared the moment his shield popped, which was very easy to do until he gets the gold necessary to stack some health.

I don't think the inclusion of this new jungle tank item is sufficient excuse, with his primary damage source already being on a much higher cooldown than Amumu Sejuani or Zac . While I would certainly think it unfair for these champs to also lose their best method of clearing efficiently(their damage), I do think some consistency should be had and for Riot to explain the context behind his damage being lowered.

At the very least, his scaling damage should be buffed up a bit. Maybe include a percentage of his health similar to the shield itself to allow him to become a more noticeable sustained damage threat.

Riptide (E): cooldown lowered to 6/5.5/5/4.5/4 from 10 at all ranks mana cost lowered to 40/50/60/70/80 from 60/70/80/90/100 AP ratio lowered to .3 from .5 slow duration lowered to 1.25 from 2 seconds

These are good changes. The lowered AP ratio is a little arbitrary, but I'll accept it since I can use my E much more often and hopefully with more efficiency. It's also a pretty strong buff to his ganks if he can get the early CDR to push out multiple E's.

I'm excited to play Nautilus when the PBE comes back up. I'm very hopeful that these will have more positive than negative an impact on his gameplay.

Well Gromp buff got buffed for champions who have a lot of health. Nautilus' shield scales with health so he should be buying health. Maybe the Gromp buff will compensate for the damage reduction of his shield.

That's fair enough, but I think the hit to his base damage is a little unnecessary for his already weak early game. I'd suggest higher scaling, but it's not like his late game is in need of any more help.

Do you think it'd be too much if his W-enhanced auto attacks also applied spell effects, similar to Kayle and Cho'Gath's E's?

great. So he can do something for 60 seconds....

Stupidest logic i have heard of.... and probably riots reasoning

The correct way to play him is now as a tanky AD bruiser since his AP damage is much lower. If you play him bruiser, then its very understandable: lower CD on E to trigger triforce, hybrid damage and huge shield.

Overall I like the change, but as one of the only tanks without %HP damage I do feel that the nerf to Titan's wrath is more than a little steep. Especially since he will still need to max his shield first for the sustain, so he won't get as much use out of Riptide as it looks like at first glance. I guess full AP lichbane assassin naut will get silly now, and toplane Nautilus may be a thing again.

S@20 WIP post, wow, you don't let grass grow under your feet do you?

Late game I'm not concerned, Naut's job isn't to deal damage.

That said the incredible nerf to it at level 1 will make his clear even WEAKER until he gets that item. A weaker early game is NOT what he needs! I suppose the CDR reduction on his E could compensate... Maybe you max it first even.

His W's DoT gave him a threat level that forced you to focus him before he has the chance to put out some deceptively powerful damage.

Lowering his damage lowers his presence.

Noooo, this is awful... His shield is his bread and butter skill, reducing its damage destroys what nautilus's identity is.

Riot is going to make it so you cant play him at all. They truly do not have a clue.

I disagree with that entirely. A lot of the changes to Nautilus himself and the new jungle/Gromp-buff are vast improvements on his late game.

I don't understand why his early game is continually made worse whenever they touch him, though. It's not like he isn't already one of the easiest kills if you catch him clearing.

great so you get a buff that lasts 90s secs as a requirement to play the champ. naugt moves at 330.

It might have something to do with the replacement of Juggernaut for tank junglers. The next tank jungle item will have Sunfire Cape's aura (whose damage increases the longer one is fighting) and percent-bonus health (making health purchases more efficient). Since he'll have blue buff for his first clear (so he can spam E with it's lowered cooldown) and Gromp's buff damage is being increased based on bonus health, he shouldn't have many issues with the early clear. Afterwards completing his jungle item, he'll have the improved Sunfire Cape's aura to help clear camps, so the lost damage on W won't be an issue.

If it helps, you can think of it as shifting some of his damage from his shield to his E and jungle item, which means that his damage won't be impacted as severely when his shield is destroyed. The lowered cooldown on E will give him more CC in fights as well with more reliable damage.

Okay, but why don't other champions receive this same redistribution? There will never be a time where Sejuani doesn't marginally excel Nautilus in DPS but I've yet to (and hope I don't) see her start getting damage reductions to compensate for things that are going to be huge boons to her normal play style.

I like the changes, don't get me wrong. I just played them and his E feels absolutely fantastic. I just don't like the supposed context for the changes to W. I don't think it'd be too horrible to let him keep the damage on his shield, since it's only flat damage.
