Blitzcrank's damage is far too high right now

Blåbæret··22 votes·2,566 views

He can easily take 70% of squishy's health with 0 damage items in a combo. His bases need to nerfed pretty hard.

I ain't saying Blitz is the only problematic champion right now, but he sure as heck is dealing more damage than many other tanks.

Everyone's damage is far to high right now though Blitz bases always have been high enough to take ~70% of a squishy post 6, which imo is one of the main reasons he's rather busted and always has been, usually in the top 5 winrates for season similar to janna. He not only has his powerfull displace, he also has followup cc and burst so his adc only needs to provide minimal followup to secure the kill. The thing with blitz is that after that burst, he does litterally nothing at all. But that pattern, even if it's not op, is very frustraiting to play against and also not that great to play as imo. Simiilar champs in other mobas neither have other hard CC in their base kit nor big burst, but therefor much more sustained impact for fights.

A girl Supp Main1 votes

Similar champs in other MOBAs do actually tend to have either burst or CC. Pudge in DotA has burst and a BKB piercing four second stun. Sylvanus in Smite has like 3 CC abilities, one being a rare knockup for the game and good base damages. That dark dude with the claw in Battlerite has a ton of CC and possible damage as well as a dash.

Out of all of them, Blitz is probably the most tame since he's much more basic and can't do much outside the combo. The self-slow added to his turbo booty Hunter charge helped give him a bit more of a counterable window. That and he's an old champion, though. He made more sense when he came out. I think the 100% AP scaling buff to his ult is still funny.

Blitz just needs a rework, he's outdated.

you really want that? every time they rework a champion it fucking dominates whatever lane its in until it gets heavily nerfred.

They'll put a 1.5 second delay on hook before it retracts so your bronze lanemate can blow all his mobility/flash cooldowns before getting yanked right back to crank anyway. [slayer-jinx-wink]

Right now he's a onetrick pony entirely based on landing a hook or being useless. He either snowballs games and becomes useless over time or is useless the entire game.

If you can't land hooks he's useless no matter what.

While his abilities were relatively synergistic compared to other champs on his release, it doesn't really match up well with today's standards

Eh i'm completely fine with it. Not only is his combo dodgeable but his CC is pretty eh. If the meta revolves around blitzcrank supp, I'm just super glad.

Spank the Fox3 votes

but filthy adc main deserves that for zero investments in defense hehe

tbh I’d remove the damage from rocket grab and move it to powerfist then make his stupid ult lightning bolts hit targets he’s attacking and slash the massive active nuke.

Make Blitz deal more damage over time/combos in exchange for the immediate burst and utility he has.

blitz could always nuke a squishy without items

blitz doesn't need any nerfs, things like aftershock need ithem

He was designed as a top laner, hence why he has some base stats of one.

He would need a VGU but let's be honest, we all know who is next after Irelia's...

To be honest, if Morde wasn't such a buggy mess, they probably could have wait.

But aatrox is after irelia

Aatrox will not have a VGU, only a gameplay update. Basically it's (I think) a different team that works on Aatrox along side Irelia's. But the timing will so happen that he will come after Irelia according to Riot.

Rhyvin1 votes

I believe it would be the team working on swain that moves onto Aatrox given how they said they had two teams work on stuff like that while they were doing ww and yorick

But I doubt they would change morde again this soon. Considering he's one of a few failed reworks

That explains why he has such high base damage but it doesn't justify it now that he is balanced and played as a support.

That's because of one reason: his kit.

Blitzcrank's kit is something very common along mobas. I don't very know SMITE but DOTA 2, Heroes of Storm and hell even Overwatch have a hero that has a hook that bring people closer to him.

However, all these heros that have mentionned are considered to be tank (at least for Stiches and Roadhog, I'm unsure about Pudge). But Blitz is different since Blitz is nowhere near to be tank in league of legends: he has no base substain and only single target cc. What's more his own hook has less range but he is faster.

Basically, players find out it was better to play him support because he was too weak to be a top laner, even with an auto attack reset.

I know why he is played support, yeah.

Pudge can lock you down for 3 seconds while he burns you and himself at the same time, while the 3 second lock down heals him, and killing you makes him stronger. Not sure what he is.

Although I have no idea how this plays out in a real match, as I stop trying to get into matches after 5 minutes in queue.

actually, Roadhogs more akin to an offensive damage dealer then a tank, he has no armor, he provides the enemy team a ton of meter if he tries to facetank in Overwatch.

He's a bulk offensive unit who specializes in flanking/sniping supports.

Switches is "tanky" but functions more like a bruiser. He doesn't provide the target lockdown or CC that most tanks enjoy, and dealers higher then average damage for a tank.

Pudge also has a high base damage burst/ganking phase, where he plays more like an assassin and he if he does that well he becomes tanky later.

Oh you don't want that. Trust me, you really don't. As soon as you nerf all of his base damages, it becomes time to talk about compensation. Do you know what they'll compensate him with? No? Neither do I. But whatever it is terrifies me. And it should terrify you.

lower mana cost, removal of self slow :p

nah, just leave blitz in this state, he hurt a lot, but actually pay the manaprice to do so unlike other champ

If you think Blitz is op I don't think you play this game well enough to know his obvious weaknesses lol

While damage is more or less higher all the way around... this isnt really a "NEW" problem. Blitz ripping the majority of a squishy targets health off then casually walking off for a carry to finish them off is something Iv seen happen many times since I started the game in season 5.

Jinzo Torrance1 votes

Blitz damage was always high, you could kill the enemy ADC at level 11 in a single combo using ignite even before runes reforged

Q: 300 (+100% AP) E: 200% AD R: 300 (+20% AP) every 2.5 seconds for passive and 500 (+100% AP) for active

His bases are really high, likely because he was balanced previously around Supports having very low income. While the increased income hasn't made him OP, his old balance shows.

Blitzcrank is an early game snowball champion. He has good burst and good pick potential, but that's it.

Take away his damage and he's horrible.

  • His shield is small.
  • His hook is OK, but less versatile than Naut or Thresh.
  • His W slows him, so he can't use it defensively.
  • His E is marginally better than Leona Q.
  • His R scarcely counts as a silence.

If Blitz wasn't able to burst people, he wouldn't be able to survive any of his own engages.
