Unpopular opinion: I don't think that Vladimir, Zed, and Swain should be banned

I am writing this because I don't understand why people still ban champions like Vladimir Zed Swain - When they in reality have poor winrates and ranked performance. They are also difficult to master and not just anyone can pick them and expect to have success.

Zed is understandable since he is still a massive lane bully against almost any mid laner and thanks to the QSS changes, he can delete an ADC fairly easily. However, Vladimir is fairly easy to counter, especially because not many people know how to play him to begin with. All-inning Vlad early, purchasing an item 3123, hell, even purchasing a single item 3190 is often enough to deal with Vlad, especially since most people don't rush early magic penetration items on Vladimir. Also, he is short ranged; he is vulnerable to long-ranged mages and ADCs that can kite him (those latter can even have lifesteal to outsustain Vlad himself). Almost all things I just said about Vlad also apply to Swain.

Everytime I ask to people why they are still banned, most replies are "They are unfun to play against". Well, I find champions like Riven Fizz Katarina to be unfun to play against too, yet they are not nearly as banned. I actually don't understand how someone would find Vlad less fun to play against than, lets say, Katarina, since the latter can snowball way more easily and burst you more easily too.

On my opinion, champions like Sona Hecarim Malzahar Twitch Ashe Yasuo Soraka are the ones that need to be banned currently, since they are the actual strong champions that can make you lose a game no matter how well you play. I guess people don't find them to be as antifun to play against because they are not massive lane bullies who can snowball, but they are still strong. I would mention Azir but I am not sure of how much the nerfs affected him. I would also mention Ryze but his rework has been released recently, I am not sure if he is actually strong, but some people say he is broken as hell.

The only reason why I can find "unfun to play against" as a legitimate reason to ban a champion is if you are really sure if you or your teammates will tilt if you don't ban said champion. The other reason is if you are playing a non-ranked game, since at non-ranked games, fun >>>> win.

LOOOOOOOL I stopped reading after you tried to say Swain is difficult to master. Zed yes because he has incredible outplay potential and Vlad is meh when it comes to learning him. Swain you literally press R and afk while attaching your E to whomever you want to deal the most damage to. It's not difficult to hit his snare because you use that stupid ass bird to slow them down first. please....swain difficult to master.

The Q+W method of rooting someone in place is not entirely reliable as the slow is weak at early levels making it easy to walk out of, and doesn't become respectable until maxed out, with both the root delay and area-of-effect being wildly inaccurate and not always clear. Plus, that is a novice method of locking someone down. Likewise, dropping the root on yourself when being all-inned by a melee champ is just one of those really simple means of fucking someone over post-6, especially when under your own turret. Neither of those strategies, while legitimate, and indicative of being a competent player are not signs of having mastered the Master Tactician.

An above average Swain will, for example, drop his w on LeBlanc's return point (this becomes more difficult post-6 as she has multiple jumps). The same can be done to Zed with the variation of dropping it on his W shadow to catch him while swapping into melee range, while he is trying to escape with his W, or wiping out the Zed who saw you were half-hp and thought he could blow you up with just a spell rotation, but forgot that you can heal off his own minions as well as himself, so instead of dropping everything on yourself on and locking him down in your face where he'll try to use his passive to kill you... Rely instead on him forgetting about his passive and start walking toward his shadow he leaves behind and into his minion wave (I've seen way too many Zed's think they don't have to use their passive because they overestimate their death-mark+ignite, but against a rapidly healing drain-tank-mage, you'd better do it because if he's fighting you inside your wave he'll likely overcome the ignite), then just as he's about to teleport back to his primary shadow drop the root and +e his ass so he'll get chunked. You're saving Q for when the W wears off in the case that you don't have flash and he's too far away, so save your Q and position it inbetween him and his W shadow (closer to the shadow), that way he gets slowed and you more time to catch up and get as close as possible (your E lasts for four seconds so you have a good while to keep laying down the hurt ontop of having chunked the shit out of him with your W), ignite him if he's within range and the solid range on your ult should finish him off.

Note that I don't endorse counting on your opponent to be a bad to outplay them, but that tried and proven method of catching that fuck. Things will get more complicated if Zed ults onto you and drops his W shadow to the side or further behind you, at which point you wait to see if he plans on autoattacking you, if he does he's risking taking turret fire and is saying he wants to fight you for an extra second. Let that extra second go by, drop your root on his W's shadow and watch him swap right into fucktown. If he's throwing it off to the side he intends to retreat back to his main shadow, then come back in with the W he placed down once your guard is back down, so either drop it on his return spot (keep walking forward so you'll be able to capitalize on your position), or drop it on his W shadow as he's coming back so he'll be near your minions who will start throwing a shitfit and attack him.

Then there is Ahri whose Q-empowered movement speed you deal with by staying near the orb, as she's going to follow it, and just as it is about to hit you, drop your root perpendicular to her path while positioning your Q (if possible as the range is questionable) partially behind her as if she sees the root her first instinct is going to be to backpedal or move to to the side. No matter where she moves she's going to get slowed and you have a very good chance of making sure your E does optimal damage. Congratulations, you just corralled the person trying to corral you into her Orb of true damage, and secured an easy trade, and if you're lvl 6 and above, most likely a kill.

There are other methods to use against ranged champs but unless they have a stun or silence you always have a means of outplaying your enemy due to the superior range of your W, you can guide people into it, or straight-up trick them into getting boned by it. I'm not going to explain the other novice methods of outplaying your opponent as Swain as they should be obvious, but mastering the Master Tactician is not something that happens so easily.
