What actually made Kha'Zix stop picking up manamune?

I did try it once a few days ago on mid lane Kha'Zix and ended up getting pretty fed. Though I guess the game ended too fast on account of me not being able to get muramana by the time it finished. I wasn't here for the time when Manamune was being picked on Kha'Zix all the time.

He used to be able to proc his passive with his evolved w. That and tear allowed him to harass his lane opponents and clear minions easily then he could just dive them when they got low enough. His wave clear was made awful due to that and he no longer had a reason to spam his spells off cd do he didn't need tear anymore.

but muramana procs on his Q, it gives him an insane amount of damage

One muramana proc every few seconds is nothing special. Regular AD will get similar results without all the weaknesses inherent to stacking the tear.

what? muramana convert 2% of your mana into AD, if you get 2000 mana you get 40 AD+25 base AD=65 as much AD as any items

but then, the active gives you 6% of your mana into AD, that's 60 bonus damage and kha6 only uses his Q and AA as damage

if you get 2000 mana

Yeah, and that's pretty nice once you're level 18 with the fully stacked tear. Before that, you're not getting quite so much.

Again, that's when you're at full mana and at level 18. Before that, it's ok. Not amazing, at least not when compared to other AD/armor pen options.... I think? As I say that, it occurs to me that with the nerfing of AD assassin itemization maybe I need to reevaluate muramana's worth.

Early game damage trying to manamune too poor for an assassin that needs to snowball to stay relevant. If he went back to laning, he might build manamune. In the jungle it just delays his damage too much.

Muramana is still and has been a moderately viable item for laning Kha'xiz, depending on the lane match up, desired power spike, and intended playstyle. For one-shotting enemies in mid game, muramana is the best option on kha'zix and always has been (again, laner xiz is assumed). What it does for you is:

  • Provides mana (obviously); the purpose of this mana is to spam W for sustain, wave clear and poke in lane.
  • Provides a MASSIVE spike at 2-3 items (muramana+ghostblade/ muramana+ghostblade+lw)
  • Provides an enormous source of damage on auto attack (due to interaction of his passive with the on-hit damage) and Q
  • Provides a large amount of raw AD for scaling abilities

The reason it's fallen off in popularity is that most of those things have been nerfed. His W is no longer as effective as poke/healing as it was when laner zix was all the rage (this is the biggest single reason it's not as popular), and additionally, his W no longer procs the muramana, making its poke less effective in two ways. His scalings, especially E scaling, are not as good as they were at the time. Still, in some matchups muramana is amazing, and in terms of raw damage output, it's got the most of anything you can get for him.

I wonder if Manamune would be good for jungle Kha.
