I like how people complain about lack of Variety in LCS
but then complain when champs are being buffed so they're more likely to be played in Worlds, instead of the normal picks.

Not the issue, the issue is the same set of champions is always in a cycle of Buff-Nerf-Buff-Nerf... yea 50 champions see LCS play over a couple years, but what about the other champions that never or incredibly rarely see play?
Plus the champions they are buffing are in a relatively good spot right now, whereas other champions are horrendously under-powered or just plain broken (either not working at all or not working as intended). Hammer down the nails sticking out so all of them are in an equal position, don't pull a few other nails out and call it variety....
A lot of champs aren't picked because they don't work well agaisnt a Coordinated team, like Yi, Tryn, or Old-Malzahar. Thats something you can't fix without full reworks.
I agree and Yorick they will nerf even further into the trash if he sees any real play, but there are over 130 champions and we only see like 30-40 champions consistently. You rarely see random champions here and there and on top of the 30-40 you will see another 15-20 that happen to be FOTM for that patch. That is not the point though, it seems Riot balances around the same champions that are always played and always will be played. Even though LCS is only a fraction of the year, a large amount of time is put into balancing purely around that which effects all elos.
If you nerf the common picks of LCS, new people come in to cover the spot, not to expand the slot.
Concerning the rest of the post i will admit that I'm not an avid watcher of LCS. I've watched only the first game that Bard saw play, but thats it. So i'm not the best person to debate this without some more details.
What i can comment about is the fact that Pro's will usually try to pick the best or safest picks. Especially in a coordinated team, who discuss their picks, there are always going to be those Champs who are viewed the safest/best of the best. Elsewise, they're picking champs who innately counter someone. I can't remember, but didn't Urgot see proplay as a direct counter to someone?
I don't blame Riot for balancing around a certain set of champs, because I don't think it's all their fault. Pro's are going to pick the top dogs, and that itself is tricky to make diversty work.
The game shouldn't be balanced around a fucking event that only 0.0001% of the game's population gets to participate in, anyway.
The game normally isn't. This is for Worlds, an attempt to try and make it more interesting for those who play/watch.
But it won't change anything. Teams will continue to play passively and slowly to prevent a game snowballing out of control. As unlike scrubs like me, they don't let the snowball stop rolling. Nerfing rek sai or gragas won't change that. As they'll just pick a different utility tank and grab a sightstone on them (I predict sej/zac)
Youre right we should balance around shitty bronze and silvers that cant even git gud and blames dynamic q for them sucking
Do you know what a strawman fallacy is and why your remark is silly?
Incorrect.
Why not? It's very interesting to watch and I'm not even obsessed with LC$
Because NFL, FIFA, NBA never did before.

Like they really only do that for one patch cycle.
Though the part that makes this hilarious, they usually maintain caution when messing with anything on the competitive level. Only bring the power picks in line. (Like Tankko, instead of completely trashing them because you hate his guts.) While only buffing the almost viable champs, out of hope that they might see play.
And when everything is all over, Riot can, and will, be assertive about game changes as possible cause pre season. And people will complain about that too.
Or when they complain about lack of variety in LCS and then complain that champions who have been consistent staple picks like Azir get nerfed.
"hurdur let's have perfect diversity of 0.763% pickrate guys" "that's totally better"
xD
Incorrect
wouldn't it be better to just reduce overall damage in the game?
Damage isn't the problem, not in worlds. Worlds is about picking the safest, strongest pick. Reducing damage doesn't change that regard.
I'd like to see shit like
getting played in the lcs, not just ashe, vayne, skillven and cancer fireman.
Trust me, Morde was already picked and NO ONE wanted to seem him again, not even the pros themselves.
Maybe Yorick will be good after his rework, Poppy and Sion both got very strong in competitive after their reworks.
As a morde main : fyi he WAS broken. Op. Thats why everyone played him but now hes. Normal and. LESS people play him because riot. Insulted his playerbase
Wow he was broken??? No shit?? Why do you act like I don't know? He was picked because he was busted and no one wanted to see that retarded 3rd Q anywhere near their games anymore.
I want to see morde picked. At worlds but as a balanced champion thats the point riot messed up bad
I think we all do want our favourite champions picked, but while there are champions with the same damage as Morde but with mobility/CC, I don't see much hope :/
Thats exactly my point about mordekaiser how is that balanced he has comparable damage to those who have mobility+cc. With a crappy shield you cant keep full
thank god yi isn't played in the LCS
Those people have design flaws that make them not pickworthy, something that isn't fixed by buffing a number, unlessmit broke them past hell.
I know, but seriously lcs looks like the 44 same champions each year.
i like how riot tries to do balance changes for worlds
and then buff vayne's Q AD ratio BACK to 70%.
meanwhile
balance changes around world is just a dream
People want variety. Its just that they want the k8nd of variety that suits them.
We complain because those buffs can break the champion for everyone else.
Buffing Yi to be viable in Worlds will break him in normals. Riven or Brand aren't going derail the game, because they don't have the same design weaknesses as Yi does, being cc'able to death with a coordinated team.
Did you ever play against riven as someone without mobility or hard cc?[zombie-brand-facepalm]
You mean literally Mordekaiser?
He is a special case to be fair.
He's the only case of a champion with no cc or mobility. So special or not, he is the only answer to your question.

How is Riven not weak to being CC'd to death by a coordinated team?
Yi is if anything less susceptible to that because he can at least avoid CC with his Q.
She's just as cc'able, but she has a stun and sheild to help cover that weakness.
People complain about everything.
An individual person doesn't, though.
So while some people complain about LCS variety and some people complain about buffs, they generally aren't the same people. It's not surprising that people have different opinions on this, and it's not surprising that both sides want to voice those opinions.
Yeah but that's too long of a post and i'm stuck to my tablet till the computer is fixed :P

Urgot was used in LCS though? Granted he was used only as a heavy counterpick, but he was picked.
LCS.. heavy breathing..
