I mean, other than using the E as a slow, which I don't see very often, she has almost no reason NOT to just throw out the E and immediate blow it up.

Habitz2 votesWatch lux during the early game. She tends to throw e on top of all the minions, then she will aa the caster minions, then she will detonate it when she can last hit a few minions with it and mop up the rest with her passive.
EDIT: But you're saying you want the option to detonate it immediately right?
CheftoniFTW2 votesYou can use the E as a zoning tool. No one at the early game would walk into a zone that they know can cause them decent amount of damage PLUS proc extra damage from an auto attack that can't miss.

How about both?
That way she has a reason to hold onto her Q so that her E does more damage pre-6.
And if she can, even without her Q, lure someone into her E without them noticing, she can ult them for insane amounts of damage?
That way she isn't just 3 skills to be thrown out willy-nilly but that she has synergy.
