What if instead of disabling Gangplank, you just give everyone who owns GP temporary access to the Spooky Gangplank skin?
People get to play him, he's dead, AND it's a little funny.
Seriously. I'm just not happy about him being disabled.
The lore is great. Him "dying" in the story I'm fine with. But when I can't play my main because of it I start to get a bit salty.
As someone who already owns spooky Gangplank, I'd be k with this.

As an unabashed MF fan, I'm still going to side with you guys on this; it sucks he got disabled. It's actually super insulting, when you consider how much of the lore they changed BECAUSE they didn't want gameplay effecting it or vice-versa. Completely retconned the League because gameplay and story shouldn't be related in any way. "It's just silly."
So let's disabled a champion because of story/lore reasons, effecting how people play the game. That'll be neat and attention getting!
Seriously, shoulda just let people use the spooky skin for free for awhile. It'd be a homage to your "event" without actually impacting gameplay. Oh, and it would be about ten times more fun, rather than ten times LESS fun.

Agreed. As hysterical as it is (and I do think it's pretty funny), I think it's 100% stupid for lore to screw with your ability to play the game in this way. Of course, I also don't like the fact that Leona's passive deals 1 damage less to champions whose skins have sunglasses, so maybe I'm just grumpy.
I will laugh a lot if his spooky skin is end up being cannon.
It would at least have been interesting if Gangplank came back to life when nobody expected it... or if they introduced the rework by killing him and bringing him back. It's just so obvious that Gangplank isn't dead and that the death is only temporary and that soon he'll have made it out alive/be replaced by GP junior or whatever. So rather than being an unexpected story element, it just feels like a stupid cost to an obvious result.
He's not really dead. Why do you think Ms. Fanservice told her men to look for the body? Because important characters don't die like that. Plus the disabling and the accompanying message just seems like a blatant "YEAH HE'S DEAD SHOO SHOO DON'T LOOK ANY FURTHER INTO IT WHILE WE MAKE A SECRET PAGE BYE NOW"

So, what now? Do we just wait until he mysteriously rises from the depths? I just bought last week, and now I can't play him.
Temporarily unlock it, but lock all other skins (including standard).
Not just access to the skin, but that's the ONLY skin you can play as Gangplank. That would've been hilarious.
I thought they disabled him due to a bug with his barrel (The draven bug)
I think this would be great, unfortunately I don't think they have the capabilitiy to do this with the current tech.

They will probably finish off the event with a cinematic and the reveal that Gangplank aint dead.
The thing is that there is NO WAY that GP is actually dead in the story. He survived somehow and will return next act.

I already own Spooky , and I'm totally cool with making him free until the sudden but inevitable reveal of 's Survival as orchestrated by

Turns out he's gonna come back in the end so they won't disable him forever.
I kinda like it. I imagine that BMB is exactly what is going on in Bilgewater since GP died. Crazy creatures are going everywhere, attracted to the havoc since there is nothing to keep them at bay.
It's like immersing ourselves into the aftermath of Fortune's attack; experiencing the chaos that she has unleashed onto Bilgewater. Since GP is dead right now, it makes sense how he can not be there to see what the hell is going on.
