What if instead of disabling Gangplank, you just give everyone who owns GP temporary access to the Spooky Gangplank skin?
People get to play him, he's dead, AND it's a little funny.

It just fitted with the current story twist.

Its CLEARLY that he's bugged because every allied champion in the game can autoattack his barrels while dealing no damage, and some of those interactions are downright busted.
Rengar can escape all he wants with autoattacks from bushes to allied GP barrels. Draven can get adoration stacks. I'm not 100%, but allies might be able to lifesteal off them.
Riot is just... to be honest they're just being dumb. They're playing coverup for the fact that he's bugged. If he comes back up, and that barrel glitch is gone... Well, they aren't hiding anything from some of us. If he comes back up and the barrel glitch isn't gone? Riot needs to get their priorities straight, and they also need to NOT disable champions for really stupid reasons.

Uhhh. No. They just fucked every single person who wants to play GP. I mean, fuck GP mains, right? That isn't fair to anyone.
There were so many work-arounds that could have been done, to not majorly affect gameplay, while still getting their "point across."
I've been begging for lore along with everybody else. I wasn't begging for removing champions for undefined periods of time, especially when its clear that said champion isn't even dead.
You can't just remove champions when they aren't major problems, and even then you should be delicate about it and rework them in a way that is true to the original playstyle and theme of the character.
But no, you're right. This is great. Why don't we take turns disabling everybody's mains every week. Take a turn screwing everybody? The only reason there isn't a total riot right now is because there aren't a ton of dedicated GP players.
Why don't we "kill" say, Thresh? And while we're at it, the entire lineup of the top 10 most popular champions? I'm sure people will loooove that. Its just plain bad and unfair.

It's actually super insulting, when you consider how much of the lore they changed BECAUSE they didn't want gameplay effecting it or vice-versa. Completely retconned the League because gameplay and story shouldn't be related in any way. "It's just silly."
So let's disabled a champion because of story/lore reasons, effecting how people play the game. That'll be neat and attention getting!
Seriously, shoulda just let people use the spooky skin for free for awhile. It'd be a homage to your "event" without actually impacting gameplay. Oh, and it would be about ten times more fun, rather than ten times LESS fun.

Of course, I also don't like the fact that Leona's passive deals 1 damage less to champions whose skins have sunglasses, so maybe I'm just grumpy.

It's just so obvious that Gangplank isn't dead and that the death is only temporary and that soon he'll have made it out alive/be replaced by GP junior or whatever. So rather than being an unexpected story element, it just feels like a stupid cost to an obvious result.

Aquodox1 votesI kinda like it. I imagine that BMB is exactly what is going on in Bilgewater since GP died. Crazy creatures are going everywhere, attracted to the havoc since there is nothing to keep them at bay.
It's like immersing ourselves into the aftermath of Fortune's attack; experiencing the chaos that she has unleashed onto Bilgewater. Since GP is dead right now, it makes sense how he can not be there to see what the hell is going on.
