Kennen is pretty much a worse version of Vladimir with a mini-stun
Can we see some of his early game bullying toned down, in exchange for more reliability?
Aside from 1/3 of the roster hard countering Kennen, Vladimir does a better job in every area aside from CC, and even then, Kennen's CC isn't amazing because of his other shortcomings.
-
Survivability: he needs to get into the middle of the enemy team and stay there, but only has one incredibly weak survival tool. Compared to Vladimir, who gets a ton of free health, a massive heal, and untargetability. +10 armor/magic resist is useless and doesn't compare.
-
Mobility: it's all tied up in a short movement speed buff (which also drains his energy), and he has no form of slow or CC resistance, so he's easily stopped. He needs it to get into the middle of the enemy carries, but Vladimir can do this much easier with the Q movement speed + buff W proccing Phase Rush, while being completely unstoppable.
-
Damage: while his base and ratios are slightly higher, he needs to stay on top of his target to deal it, and his kit doesn't facilitate this. His overall AP is also significantly lower, because he's forced into building survivability to cover for the lack of it in his kit. Vladimir is able to just rush pure AP, which allows him to easily one shot carries, because his kit gives him so much built-in survivability.
-
Reliability: Vladimir completely shits on Kennen here. Kennen's full damage relies on him making physical contact with his target, landing his skill shots on that target, and also staying on top of the target. This is all incredibly hard to do, and often impossible, because the enemy champions' kits don't allow it (i.e. via disengages, mobility, CC, body blocking your Q). Vladimir only needs to get on top of the target briefly with his W, and all of his damage comes at once and is entirely unavoidable.
-
Trading: Kennen loses every trade, because he has no sustain in his kit and his single target damage is low. He only actually wins against champions who have no way to retaliate against him; once damage is dealt, it sticks until he recalls. This is a major problem, given that he doesn't win burst fights and has to get in close range to do full damage.
I really don't see any reason to play Kennen over Vladimir. The mini-stun doesn't warrant the all around lower reliability and lack of synergy in his kit.
