Can you rework Akali so she actually fits a role?

She's a sustain assassin. This doesn't fit what her kit suggests at all. She has the tools and abilites of a assassin built to punish those who get near her, but in the top lane she's Vladimir 2.0. Now I understand she does buy item 3146 but her passive also compliments these flaws in her kit. Please, can she fill an actual role instead of being half assassin and half sustain?

Akali was never a pure assassin. She fills her own unique niche, whch is an AP melee hypercarry.

Her kit makes perfect sense for this niche. She has poor escapes, and by design, doesn't have true 100-0 burst built into her kit. Instead she trades this off for sustained damage, short cooldowns and chasing power.

She essentially plays like an AP Yi, hence her resets as well add to the carry-like nature of her kit. Shroud is a stall mechanic to wait for cooldowns since her damage is mainly from casting spells.

Out of all the assassins, Akali is the only assassin kit that has carry-like qualities. Removing this would remove champion diversity, we don't need another generic energy assassin, Zed already filfuls this space.

katarina and khazix have resets... khazix can go invisible too and he has good escapes and he has higher burst dmg, katarina can't go invisible but she can hop around more or less indefinitely which when used well counts as stalling/escaping. both of them clean up/carry teamfights much harder than akali does with their infinite instant dashes /burst dmg versus Akali 2 seconds cooldown R dashes and delayed burst dmg.

Because Akali keeps on getting nerfed. That's why. Pre-5.2 is Akali at her true power level.

She has the best sustain out of those two, and trades burst for chasing power. You can clutch flash Kat/Kha'zix at the right time to avoid them, but against Akali this cannot happen as easily. Kat has AoE damage and resets, but she doesn't have the single-target fighter traits Akali has, i.e. Kat cannot simply go toe-to-toe with tankier targets. Akali easily can.

As other players have mentioned on here, Akali does fit a role, and that was never really her problem. On top of this, I'm personally really not a fan of cutting down on a champion's signature traits purely to make them fit in a neat little box, as classification is meant to allow for points of design reference and thereby enable diversity, not hinder it.

Really, the issue here isn't so much that Akali's a sustain assassin (that's a great unique quality to have in an environment where assassins are often too similar to each other), but that Akali's kit as it is currently implemented fails to be as enjoyable and as interactive as it could be, because Riot hasn't yet worked out how to make her outplayable. Her rework did give her some additional means of dodging certain skillshots with her W blink, but preserved a base set of abilities that doesn't really allow her opponents to escape her or mitigate her damage in any way, causing her to be overbearing when ahead, and forcing her to be balanced in such a manner that she has a significant chance of falling behind, which feels terrible for Akali's player as well. Effectively, if/when Akali receives a rework, one of its main goals should likely be to add more nuance to her kit, allowing her to apply more direct force than other assassins, while still giving her enough agility so that she can outplay her opponents at close ranges, and let them outplay her in turn.

Her niche would be fine if it wasn't causing her so much trouble in multiple roles. Her sustain makes her a very good option top lane, but at the same time she never has enough tankiness to match up with the other bruisers. In the mid lane theres a whole assortment of issues that keep her from being good.

Sure, but again, those are issues with her kit, rather than her niche. Vlad himself is good in both top and mid lane, and both Yasuo and Fiora are good top laners, despite being squishy and sustain-reliant champions, even if they all have issues of their own. Akali is one of the very few assassins out there who can thrive in both top and mid lane, due to her diver-assassin hybrid profile, and that in itself is, imo, enough to justify keeping her role, and making her healthier in both of those positions. Right now, the fundamental issue is that she either wins hard or loses hard, and doesn't really offer many opportunities for either side to outplay the other, which is why she doesn't feel so great.

No, akali needs to stay an assassin fighter Hybrid.

What's wrong with her being able to play bruiser if she gives up damage for it.?

What's wrong with playing assassin if she gives up defense for it.

Her passive is one of the most important things to define her as a Hybrid damage assassin/fighter. Her old one was better imo.

Her Role is: assassin or bruiser if you need a frontliner.

Go play zed If you want a pure assassin.

Thats honestly one of my favorite things when I play akali. I can assassinate and if I need to split, I could make a defensive item and fight alot of dueling champs.

More than a role, she needs to fit a niche. Give her the whole "what can she offer to a team that nobody else does" treatment.

i actually like akali a little. she feels like a ninja without being an exact copy of shen, zed, and kennen. grievous wounds prevents her from healing, but doesnt prevent her damage. her damage comes from her Q+AA.

you throw the mark then dash to the mark with R and then basic attack twice. if you didnt kill your target then you use your W to heal and try again or E to run away.

her healing is a reward for killing her target. maybe it should be placed on her R or on the Q's mark when basic attacking instead?

the hextec gunblade heals so much because her attacks are all single target damage. you can buy grievous wounds and % penetration and you should be fine against her. no matter how much armor or magic resist she buys you'll do the same amount of damage and really the thing about assassins is that they have low hp. if she stacks hp that's another story, but then she loses out on damage.

item 3022 item 3001 item 3742 item 3814 item 3151 item 3027 item 3107 item 3116 item 3053 item 3068 item 3071 item 3748 item 3078

these are the items that grant HP and a form of damage whether it be ap or ad. the sheer amount of items means that this is going to be an issue regardless of how you change akali and is a much larger issue than just for akali. HP is always a good option. damage is always a good option. armor and magic resist are situational. at that point it all comes down to base stats and how well your champion scales. if you're not dealing enough damage to kill your opponent then there's something wrong with the bigger picture. possibly your build and possibly the over commitment to a particular defensive stat as opposed to offensive.

these items grant little damage compared to their offensive counterparts. so make sure you're building damage first and that your runes give you stats that are beneficial early game when you dont have any items. when playing against an assassin it should be obvious that it's kill or be killed. all assassins run flat penetration on unarmored targets and %penetration on armored targets. if you're in a lane against an akali as a tank then dont waste your gold on armor and magic resist.

This is a weird complaint about her, but I dislike how she throws a projectile while holding 2 weapons. If they remake her, they should make it where the blades are put away like how Taki has them from soul calibur. (pic related) That way her hands are free to throw things.

I think her niche is like a hybrid assassin which I think she does well with her mixed damage. But her playstyle resembles more of a fighter/skirmisher rather than an assassin.
