We could legit have 20 bans, and it still wouldn't be enough to get rid of all the braindead overpowered picks. What I used to like about League was, that you could play anything and still do well, but now this game became league of champion select, who ever gets more disgustingly broken nonsense wins.
Then ban no one and see if that feels less of an impact than having bans. That could answer your question.
I think the problem is more of matchmaking that causes snowball picks to be out of control. For example you could have seemingly close ranks match up that may only be 4 divisions apart, but in reality thats over 50% of the ranked player base difference and one person gets smashed so hard by a "meta" champion that makes them unbeatable.
