In all honesty here, I would kick myself for posting this a while ago but... Windwall itself isn't that big of a problem
Hear (read) me out, yes he can block EVERYTHING that hits the wall, yes that's incredibly powerful on it's own too but... it has several weaknesses that are very important to understand before complaining about the skill and I'll try to break it down:
-
Placement: windwall blocks everything that collides with it in a radius of 180º, that's pretty good considering that your target is strictly behind it but how hard is it to engage from two equidistant points? take mid lane for example, if the jungler ganks from the side, yasuo often windwalls forward to block the enemy mid laner, this leaves the jungler open space to act, as he should.
-
Cooldown: at max level it's 18 seconds, meaning that during a fight Yasuo can use it only once. Best case scenario for the enemy is to bait it but most importantly is to time aggression against it, save important CC and use skills that makes the Yasuo player think you'll unleash but instead reposition yourself, for example: Ezreal's E
-
Range: this is very individual skill dependant, but orbwalking is a must when fighting yasuo, I know he dashes like crazy everywhere and you feel like orbwalking does nothing, but seriously, sidestepping that wall isn't all that hard, in fact it's seriously easy. A lot of people incurs on a big mistake though, going towards the wall... that's the WORST idea anyone could have since it allows yasuo to play his dashy game, instead try stepping to the side and away from yasuo, bait him out of the wall AND DODGE THAT TORNADO.
Of course the wall is pretty broken in some aspects as well and I'll take this post to name them:
-
** It literally swallows projectiles instead of intercepting them**, Braum for example intercepts projectiles but they still explode on him, Yasuo can step inside his wall and be completely safe which is simply stupid... best example of this is Ashe's ult, if intercepted by Yasuo it dissappears, if intercepted by Braum it explodes, stuns Braum and applies the slowing field anyways. Windwall should work as an invincible unit and missiles should be intercepted by it, meaning that if Ashe ults windwall, literally, windwall gets stunned and everything around receives a slow.
-
Cast range, probably the most BS thing in league currently, a missile that seems to hit yasuo on your screen suddenly vanishes even though the wall is units away from yasuo himself. This is because windwall moves forward from BEHIND Yasuo, if the skill was coded to have a minimum range of say 25, any skillshot that's too close to yasuo would instantly hit him, make Yasuo work for this interaction instead of it being a freebie, give it some finesse instead of it being a button mash miracle.
-
Effective range literally Yasuo fighting inside the wall... it's not a good idea to move towards the wall, but sometimes yasuo walls while ulting so you are kind of stuck inside of it while he has extra armor pen... I think that the wall's girth is simply too big, it should be a vertical plane, you are either on the safe side or on the unsafe side, being in between is spaghetti code.
my two cents...
