Runes for Nasus and other fighters

I have had a bit of trouble completing runes and builds for Nasus and other fighters because of one major annoying thing: they have BOTH ad skills and ap skills. How are my skills supposed to be useful? If I build both ad and ap they wont be powerful enough since i only have six items. I know Nasus is supposed to be focused on ad, so then why does he have ap skills??? His e is really useful for CC but its not strong because I build ad.

Another issue: should fighters like Nasus be building full tank with some dmg? or mostly dmg with some tank? Or both? I know Mordekaiser can be both precision and resolve (i prefer resolve) but idk what to do? I cant build sorcery since that is for mages/ap champs? Any suggestions here?

With Nasus you should get a sheen item (not lichbane due to Lichbane needing another AP items to deal more dmg than sheen provides itself) and then go full tank.

Your Dmg is going to scale up regardless to build due to your Q and that is pretty much your main source of damage unless you wanted to go a cheesey AP E build.

You have to be able to survive long enough to get a bunch of Qs off.

As for runes, anything that just keeps you Alive or Fast.

i IMO think its situational just like you COULD build mage nasus (item 3151 /item 3116 /item 3812 / then get defensive items that finish CDR) its just that tank nasus is the main reason you play him since his "stacks" are his "items".

A lot of fighters only tend to want AP or AD. The only exception I can really think of is Jax, who in some situations wants both.

For Nasus in particular, you generally want to run Grasp or Spellbook as your keystone, and take either inspiration secondary with Grasp or precision secondary with Spellbook. Conqueror also reportedly works, but I have not verified that. Nasus is unlike other bruisers in that he doesn't need to build damage. item 3025 item 3047 item 3065 item 3742 item 3075 item 3194 is a perfectly viable build on him (assuming, of course, that the enemy team justifies buying Thornmail and Adaptive).

His meta build generally has Trinity instead of Iceborn (better powerspike and you can generally get it on the same back you'd get Iceborn), and also tends to use Sterak's, but that build is also viable.

Nasus also doesn't really want AP. It's not entirely wasted on him if you get it because it's on something useful, but it's not something you should itemize (No. Not even in ARAM, unless your team has zero AP otherwise). AP Nasus is...well... Honestly terrible.

And you can very well run Sorcery on non-AP champions as well. I run it quite often on Ashe and Caitlyn for various reasons. Sorcery has Manaflow Band (useful on a lot of champions in a lot of situations, and most of the reason I run this tree), Transcendence (Tanks in particular tend to love this rune since a lot of tank items have CDR, and it's fairly easy to overcap in their case), and Scorch (strong on any kind of poke, not just AP) and Gathering Storm (General good-scaling rune). Don't think of the trees as being for a specific type of champion, think of it in terms of what the trees have.

Man if you're this clueless about builds you might as well go look them up on probuilds or even mobafire.

nasus is a bad example because not only is he a stacking champ he also has a passive that makes him undying unless he goes 1v5.

if you have 800 or more stacks, your q will deal over 1500 damage on a minion and you have a 26%(was it 26?) lifesteal passive. so you will heal over 300. and with your ult, your q will be on a 0.5 second cooldown. you will deal out insane damage und just heal insane amounts.

but bruisers, fighters, juggernauts, whatever you call them usually are trinity runners with some sort of sustain. (irelia, illaoi, darius, fiora, jax) the ones that somehow become quite tanky, have insane dps and somehow build in sustain. they only require trinity (maybe a 2nd damage item if really fed) and then go tank. they are especially op vs a full mage build because with spirit vissage and adaptive helmet, not only do they gain insane resistance, they also further increas their healing.

the best way to check out how strong these champs are is to play vs a ranged toplaner. (you need a capcloser tho) just get sheen and item 3082 , press q+aa on them and watch them run away in fear as you took half their hp bar while they can barely tickle you back.
