Why are so many players experiencing massive ping spikes?

I just had 4 losses in a row, which is INCREDIBLY rare for me. To put it in perspective, my 20 games before that I was 16W-4L.

What's weird about these losses is that in EVERY game I had a teammate with ping problems. All 4 games had at least one player post over 1000ms ping. In one game, there were two players. Many disconnects/reconnects and periods of AFK.

What gives? Related to patch 9.9? I don't believe it's a coincidence over 4 matches... I'm sure I won't see the 80 ELO I lost ever again, but this needs attention for sure. Everyone posting the lag was super bummed, apologetic, and swore up and down they never lag like this.

Today I have similary problem with ping spike. Usually I have ping between 45-47 and sometimes 50 but today i have ping 47 and for one second i have 2000+ ping, this kind of situation repeat every 1-3 min in game. The game says that try to connect me but my internet is ok and when i check ping playing another game is ok.

I'm having the same issue, I never experience lag spikes; usually hover around 41 ms and 160 FPS yet now, with the new patch, I'm experience 500+ ms lag spikes and my FPS drop down to 60 or so, from what it registers. Very frustrating indeed.

I'd say it has to be related to the patch, why else would it be spread over so many users at the same time
