3 different ways to fix cho ult's broken interection with stoneplate
Here are my thoughts. Some of them are UNDOUBTLY TERRIBLE but are written JUST FOR THE PURPOSE OF [any combination of the above]s.
1. Remove/reduce/change the bonus HP scaling
1a. make the ult damage scale with [champion level] (kinda like Garen E) instead of [bonus HP]
This makes his ult stronger as game progresses in reasonable intervals, but at same time not make his ult feel too underwhelming when everyone's level is around 910 or 1415.
1b. let ult damage scale with [number of cho stacks] instead of [bonus HP] Power curve certainly gets steeper than before, but at least it's not 3 total spikes at lv6,11,16.
1c. **Change the scaling to [current HP + bonus HP] from [bonus HP], but with reduced ratio on bonus HP. ** (for example, changing from +[0.1 bonus HP scaling] to +[0.10 current HP + 0.00 bonus HP]. THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE AND NUMBERS DO NOT MAKE SENSE, but my point is about the concept. Cho can still do 2k damage with his ult if enemy team decides to ignores him completely and he gets to stay at full health, but ult damage would be reduced significantly if his hp gets chunked to 30% by the time he manages to gap close on enemy adc. Using stoneplate too early or too late would make his ult do less damage.
1d. any combination of 1a, 1b, 1c.
2. Change the ult so that stoneplate's 60% damage reduction applies on his ult 2a. change the damage type from true damage to magic damage, but with 100% magic penetration on the ult
This would still preserve the HP scaling on his ult. Cho's ult would definitely gain more damage scaling via HP, but at same time it would also more lose damage from the stoneplate active. Cho would no longer do 2k damage with his ult using stoneplate. Of course, it would cause it to perform worse against damage reductions (galio, kassadin, garen, annie, etc.) or magic damage shields (galio, camille, morgana), but at this point Chogath would be more balanceable by changing numbers.
2b. change the damage type from true damage to mixed damage(physical + magic). Again, this terrible idea is written just for the purpose of [any combination of the above] Allows enemy to resistance against his ult, but at same time hard to itemize against it. Damage still gets penalized from using stoneplate, making cho player actually think carefully whether to use stoneplate or not.
3. Change the item itself so that it doesnt grant ridiculous bonus HP
3a. Re-code stoneplate and/or maxHP to count the additional health from the ACTIVE as part of maxHP instead of bonus HP.
Again, this terrible idea is written just for the purpose of [any combination of the above].
Probably very unreasonable as it goes against both definition of maxHP and bonus HP not to mention possible coding issues, but it would still fix the problem by keeping the ult damage consistent regardless of stoneplate's active.
3b. Change stoneplate into granting shield instead of additional HP. Again, this terrible idea is written just for the purpose of [any combination of the above]. Probably very unreasonable as it makes neither HP% damage or flat damage effective against cho. And even less effective if cho takes shielding-related masteries. But still prevents him doing 2k damage with ult.
4. Any combination of the above.
