buff every single other support. maybe then I can actually find a support in team builder

You won't. The people who want to play the role already will play it, and everyone else will avoid it unless they see some absurd buffs. Everyone at Thresh's level won't really change how the role is played, just which champions are being played (which would increase the amount of people playing by only a little).

Even then, you'd get people who don't build sight stone, don't know how to peel, don't ward/clear wards, don't get a gold item and instead start with a tome. Then you (or people like you) would be here complaining that supports don't do their job.

Vayne's problem is her mid-late snowball potential. Buffing other adcs mid-late snowball potential to match that of Vayne's would fuck the game way too hard. Simply nerfing Vayne would fix the problem.

ADC's aren't supposed to be solo carries. The reason why their carry potential is so limited is because they're are strictly offense with no defensive stats unless you build GA. ADC's are supposed to carry but with the help of supportive type champs that can lock down and cc their targets. Another problem with Vayne, she has her own cc AND mobility so she doesn't necessarily need a supportive type champ.
