He hit his entire combo on you including both parts of his Q. I'd be more surprised if he didn't kill you. Three of his damage sources were skillshots with the second part of q being the hardest to avoid. His auto and ult were only responsible for about 40% of your health loss.

redniwediS1 votesHe is an assassin designed to destroy squishy characters, with his situational squishy destroying upgrade in the form of Shadow Assassin. He has a level on you, you got caught by him, and he blew his entire assassin combo on you.
An assassin should be able to get the kill in that situation. Kayn did nothing there that a Zed or Fizz couldn't do.
