Is Bloodthirster ever bought on an ADC?

I'm pretty sure Bloodthirster is one of the least bought items in the game excluding Draven who practically rushes it. Name another ADC or champion in general that ever purchases this is in their core build. Why is it so inferior versus other items now? Are crit items just better?

It’s not that its inherently bad. It’s just more often then not, you need the Cleanse and MR of Mercurial, or the AS and on-hit from BoRK.

The game state around BT makes it not as appealing of a purchase.

Lifesteal isn't very good when you die in one rotation.

Too much gold in pseudo tank stats that don’t actually work.

With the game being overloaded with damage, Healing abilities and CC, Lifesteal items, in general, are really useless in the current meta since you either get one shot so fast (either bursted down by a f*ck ton of damage or you're just locked down with all the CC in the game) that you don't have enough time to regen your HP back with BT, or your kit already has some form of sustain good enough on it's own that you don't need BT anyway (like Olaf and Warwick, for example).

well you get a lot of lifesteal from runes and item 1055 not to mention sustain from item 2010 .

several adcs rush item 3153 for various reasons

It hasn't been core since it lost stacking AD. That said, it still is a good item on a lot of champs but it isn't a rush item.

I think the biggest issue is it has that overheal shield instead of raw hp. Maybe it should have 400 base hp and drop the shield. Or give it bonus AD based on how much lifesteal you last attack did.
