I think Dymanic (and now Flex) Q gave a much larger stigma for doing so.

The old way wasn't necessary pick order. Rather pick order was the default if people couldn't agree on a role.

With the new system, people more of less get assigned roles. So players now are more insistent that people "Play the role assigned to them" and less inclined to trade.

A role trade option might help, but people with in demand roles might not part with them.
