A Question For Everyone

I see a lot of people chiming in on the balance in this game, and I agree that it could use work. However, with the sheer variation in the champion pool, is there really a way to balance this game in such a way that would have everyone say "ok the game is just fine".

So my question is, with all the new champions, items, and reworks that continue to come out, is this game that can still be nigh-perfectly balanced? And has this game ever felt balanced to you?

I'll admit, the game has never felt balanced, but my issues are that some champions have repeatedly remained in the OP category for quite some time without any kind of attention to bringing their kits down a notch or two. It gets a bit old seeing the same couple champions dominate months and months at a time.

i get what you mean. I haven't played this game for too long myself so I can't really say anything. The only champions i see constantly are Yasuo + any new champ that comes out or gets reworked haha

What people seem to not realize is that the objective of the game is to remain fun (therefore attracting people and money). Balancing champions is part of that aspect however it's not the only aspect. Constantly changing so things don't become stale, focusing on making champions more diversified, unique and interesting to play are all components of it.

Balance is somewhere on that list too but not at the top. Balance only becomes an issue when a champion is inherently unfun to play against by the majority of players playing against it without making up for the "fun factor" of the players who are playing that champion.

To follow up on that, yeah, for sure RIOT is not just concerned about game balance. Anyone who looks at the patches and game changes eventually must realize that balance is a subgoal.

Honestly, probably not. Simply because Change is not completely driven by game balance. Even if every champ, item, and strat were completely viable. Riot would likely think that the game doesn't play like they would want. (Like say, they want shorter game lengths or flashier play, or witch hunt every source of hidden power.) And every change they make on a systems level, throws balance under the bus.

Not to mention that is going to continue to produce champions and content. Which is going to shift balance in one way or another. (We just released champion X, He's kinda OP, But her synergies really well with Champion Y, that makes him broke too. but he his countered by champion Z. That also makes him broke. And like that Champ X could completely shift the pick and ban dynamic.)

The game won't be balance because it will never stop changing.
