Trying to learn Yi is very frustrating, is he even worth the time?

I just feed like crazy in the games I've played with him, I can't get ganks off because they see me coming a mile away before I can get in Q range, and most of the time people just auto-run and stay right at the fringe of my attack range. It's kind of sucking.

I like him.

Your early game isn't going to be great. There are a lot of junglers with stronger early games than you, like Voli in this game where I played Yi.

You're looking to farm up to scale, and gank if possible. I ganked Darius because he's a fat immobile fuck who couldn't escape, and I also got a good gank on a low bot lane. I built super tanky this game, but that's only because I had a Vel'koz top and kind of had to.

He's fun.

How do you "learn to play" Yi? The most complicated thing you could do is dodge an ability with Q. Otherwise, isn't it just like, right clicking people? If you're talking about learning how to be a better jungler, that's a different thing entirely. But I just don't see how you could be having problems with Yi specifically, like...what's there to fuck up....?

While fighting Voli, I pressed W for an auto attack reset when he tried to bite me, blunting its damage without affecting my DPS.

There's a lot of outplay potential in Yi's kit.

I like you. There is alot but people look at the Yi they fed so hard that he doesn't need to do any of that stuff to kill you. Or in low elos that the worst yis can be good. THere is some scary yis out there doing stuff looking sexyyyy

I once faced a Yi top lane as Darius who make a point to Alpha Strike every time my Q was in it's windup animation, so my Q missed every time while he continued to dps me.

I cried for weeks.

I did that to a Darius in my first game as Master Yi. http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2082597330/227894082?tab=overview

I remember being so happy that I got that matchup, because the Master Yi top guide I was reading said that he hard countered Darius top.

From what I've seen it's a matter of getting to people through wards and allies and sticking to them when they reposition or kite. I can either use Q to try and ambush them or save it until they run but not both. My last game for example I tried to gank a Caitlyn with my ult down, and she just auto ran. and I ran after hr, and she was just right at the edge of my attack range and I could not fucking match her with Q and R on cooldown and it suuuuuucked.

Also had to deal with Ekko, and from what I've seen Ekko is basically a gigantic hard counter to Yi. Also suuuuuuuuuuucked.

Ummm my tips i got from a challenger yi player.. unless you're 100% sure you can get a kill.. NEVER EVER EVER EVER gank till lvl 6.. then never use your Q to engage always use it as an execution or as a gap closer after they use theirs.. USe your ult to reach them

I think he's worth it i got to gold 1 playing him back in season 5.. I would of gotten to plat but i stopped playing due to life.. I personally think yi is really hard to play early game.. when he gets going it's just right clicking in lower elos

Depends on why you're trying to learn Yi; if you just want to cheese your way through lower ranks, probably not imo. If you actually enjoy playing him, as with every champion, it's worth it.

In terms of just Yi i think there is plenty to fuck up but thats all jungle knowledge to fuck up. ALot of people will say oh he's easy and thats because he can kill you.. If yi couldn't kill you ask fast like a malph or maokai he would be "harder" But main thing on yi is jungle knowledge

maybe learn other melee AA heavy champs first. like tryndamere less risky. eventually try yi again
