kay so, i love support thresh

however, i dont love it enough to put support in my role selection and say "okay im willing to support this game" when going into que

when i get filled support, i pick thresh every time. If thresh is picked, i dodge.

ISO another backup support that plays like thresh, whether it be actually plays the same or has a high skill cap

ive wanted to try bard but i dont wanna be THAT GUY that is 1st-20th time barding in peoples games

been thinking leona for awhile :S

Sorta. Her abilities are more or less the same concept, but she offers a lot more and easier to land hard CC than Thresh. She also is a lot tankier than he is until he earns enough stacks. Her downside is that unlike thresh, she has to commit to every engage fully, and cannot save her ADC if they need to back out. Thresh also has a longer range of influence than Leona save her ult.

So she is very similar, almost the same build too. But she has more specific circumstances to when she is strong or not while Thresh is usually safe into anything.

Any of these champions work similar to thresh so you should be able to adapt easily: Leona Nautilus Blitzcrank Other strong ones that build similar but might function slightly different are: Sion TahmKench BraumTaric Alistar Malphite And while their success rate depends on the player and the match-up, I have seen these work out ok as an "off-meta" support: Trundle Pantheon Shen Camille Nunu I would not advise these, but these are champions whose abilities are somewhat similar to thresh in a relatable way: Sejuani Vi

well, it's kinda hard to say. Leona is an engager, and she has less utility than thresh. I'd say she doesn't play like thresh, but thresh is kind of a generalist support... If you want another support in your repitoire (which I highly recommend because Thressh is really popular) it depends on what you like to do best. Leona can lock down people for a few seconds, Janna has her peel, Morg has her CC immune shield, etc.

I'm not sure what your preferences are, but if you like generalists, Karma or maybe Nami would be a good choice to check out, unfortunately they're not tanks.

EDIT: Taric and Nautilus plays pretty similarly too, I think, now that I think of it.

eons ago (pre rework LOL)

i actually used to be pretty proud of myself that i could W+Q without fucking up almost every time, at a time when you weren't expected to be able to do it

yeah now it's basically impossible to mess it up but you don't get the stun after knock up instead a poke resistance passive and a stun with a heavy damaging blow
