Every tenth game*

Riven is not even in the top 10 most popular champions.

Sraeg20134 votes

Um... what?

She's the most popular champion in the top lane.

Gregor Gysi8 votes

And you will still see her only every tenth game. Considering how she has by far the biggest and most dedicated fanbase that isn't a lot.

Chromatic Eagle2 votes

I find that debatable compared to Jinx

Gregor Gysi2 votes

Uh, Jinx has lower avg. games playeds and a much smaller % has many games on her, so..

Chromatic Eagle1 votes

We're only considering play rates for a devoted fanbase?

Gregor Gysi1 votes

I don't undestand, what are you getting at?

Oelyk2 votes

And we all know why right?

Gregor Gysi5 votes

Yep, it's cuz she is fun.

Oelyk2 votes

1 of three reasons.

deadlychuck2 votes

It depends what stats you're looking at. She is very common in blind because she always has initiative just like yasuo, lee sin, or fiora. Which just isn't fun to play against. From a design prospecitve I'd rather not have to sacrifice the enjoyment of lane opponent to create champions which are fun for the player playing them.

Gregor Gysi4 votes

I don't play blind so citation is needed. Also, speak for yourself. I love playing against Riven.

M1NISH1 votes

popular =/= most played

Stephenizgod3 votes

People always ask me "Why did you ban lee sin??" but i never answer because the reason is i am just tired of seeing him... Its like everyone suddenly became a Lee Sin main out of nowhere and I was reminded how little fun it is to play against him.

Bedl44m1 votes

Ban him for the talon mains yo

Stephenizgod2 votes

I haven't seen a Talon in a long time, I almost forgot he was one of the Assassins they changed.

Yet not one gives a damn when Thresh is in nearly every game, or Jhin

But lets nerf high risk high reward melee champions first.

Legacy Hydralpha13 votes

Cause people don't get annoyed with Thresh or Jhin because neither of them are: A: Dashing around your minion wave and getting two shields in a fight B: Poking you out and then making your tower dangerous to you with traps

Zedex23 votes

So its okay for OP(arguably with Thresh, Jhin IS overpowered right now) champions to be popular as long their not super annoying to play against, yet they have higher win % then the "actual" annoying champions whom you seem to be describing.

So you'd rather lose more than have to try harder, I understand that now.

Actually yes, people apparently have that sentiment. A few months/weeks ago Mira (I think, can't be sure) made a thread something along the lines of "I would rather lose a game against Illaoi or /insertotherchampion than win a game against Yasuo or /insertother"annoying"champion."

Like any other circlejerk thread, this one was popular.

Dude. That was literally based on every champion the OP had played recently and was humor >.> What does it have to do with this at all?

No, it's just my idea that people dislike fighting the more obnoxious champions that fighting the ones that aren't as much so. Thresh and Jhin are powerful in the right hands, but not as annoying unless they are either fed (Jhin) or really good at their champion (Thresh).

CookyPrince4 votes

I hate jhin in every game, he isn't that difficult and he's very rewarding. The only downside is no mobility spells but he has long range to make up for it

Stephenizgod2 votes

Probably because Jhin and Thresh, while very strong, have loads of counterplay that make dealing with them more of a game between who is better.

With Yasuo, if you beat him its because he is bad, not because you outplayed him. There is no outplaying a Yasuo, he just simply fails to outplay you.

mason water1 votes

OP is talking about cait wtf are you talking about

Supreme Senpai699 votes

Thresh Blitzcrank Thresh Blitzcrank Thresh Blitzcrank Thresh Blitzcrank Thresh Blitzcrank

Might be a weird thing to complain about, since they aren't really OP. Nevertheless one or the other is always in my games, and they're pretty damn annoying to lane against.

omnicron0079 votes

you guys waste a ban on yasuo, he's honestly not that good. there's a reason why he's not picked or played much in high elo. you should be banning actually OP people like lee sin

Stephenizgod5 votes

If I ban Yasuo it is to keep him off my team, don't want him feeding someone he shouldn't be feeding.

ahferroin77 votes

High ELO play doesn't matter in low ELO.

In most cases, a Yasuo ban is along the lines of 'I don't trust my team to fight him', not 'I can't fight him'. He's kind of like Blitz in that respect.

OHminus1 votes

More like, "I don't want my mid to take him and proceed to go 1/11"

Cowseed3 votes

I always feel sorry for people down here in bronze that ban Yas because they think he's op. More often than not when the enemy picks Yas they suck and we get a free win.

BALDG1VEN BOOMER4 votes

Ofc, people will always post bs on the boards just to get their point across of how much they hate something. Ecks dee.

RavenMagus1 votes

You know who I'm tired of seeing?

Who is surprisingly popular mid again, and who everyone claims is super balanced, but actually just does infinite damage all the time while also having tons of utility?

Orianna

The Ecdysiast7 votes

Judging by your icon, I'm just going to assume you're losing fair fights against Orianna as Lux as opposed to completely stomping her as anyone else.

RavenMagus2 votes

I actually play a ton of different mages mid, though Veigar and Lux are my favorites.

I do tend to lose to her as Lux (though not as Veigar, really).

She's the only mid champ I have a hard time against. I'll take Syndra instead at any time, or Zed, or even Yasuo.

It's because Ori can block your bs thunderlords trade with her E while procing thunderlords at the same time.

Yeah, pretty much. Her early burst is better, her late burst is about the same, and her shield is better.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Yeah. And if you don't have trouble against the much stronger mid laners, it's because you have practice against them.

Just give it some time, friend. If you keep fighting Ori's you'll get the hang of the trades eventually. She's not too strong.

mason water3 votes

really? i have a hard time dealing with ori as veigar and an easy time with veigar as ori... how do you play against ori?

RavenMagus1 votes

You stay back, you don't try to trade with her. You have pretty good waveclear with your W - about as good as Ori's really, and you have decent enough range that it's hard for her to walk up to engage. Past 6/after a back you can start fishing for stuns since she doesn't have much mobility; it's not a good idea to all in with ult on the first stun but you can use it to set up favorable trades.

Always get negatron cloak on first back, then build mana tome -> morellos -> banshee's veil. At that point ori can't do anything to you but you can still blow her up.

badooga1 votes

She's not that hard to beat, I go Karthus against her and usually win; although she hurts a bit more than me, I can get fed more easily via my global presence ult and then wreck her from there.

RavenMagus1 votes

Until she wombo's your entire team by putting her ball on Shaco or Malphite. :(

People complain about Yasuo wombo combos, but they forget Orianna has had the same thing going for a long time.
