I haven't seen Riot give any reasons or justifications for removing EVERY jungle item in the game and replacing them with one. Is diversity a bad thing?

None of the previous jungle items had a problem, they all had their purposes.

Tracker's Knife- Support junglers or Lee Sin for vision/ward hops

Skirmisher's Sabre- For damage/dueling junglers

Stalker's Blade- Tanks/other

From what I can tell, there is no reason Riot should be conglomerating everything into one dumb item. But if there is a good justification, I'm all ears.

I'm not complaining. Skirmisher's Sabre always felt really unnoticeable and "dry" to use.

I main jg and after testing this on the pbe... I like it. it never really hurt my play style as far as I noticed and helps with objective control. It seems like the only people it will hurt the most is lee sin (I just find his kit very annoying to play against so I really like the removal of trackers knife) and some auto attacking jg EX: MasterYi

In my opinion as a jungle main, albeit not a professional one, I find that the new pathfinder smite isn't something that I would like thus I would prefer if Riot would keep the 3 types of smite. In the end I can deal with it, though I can't say i'm excited for it.

its likely the same reason they merged the support items with sightstone, they saw one item being totally nessicary for the role and are just destroying the role by removing diversity

honestly I do believe it was jungle items as a whole, because frankly outside of the mage jungles I rarely see the runic echoes smite used, and just above that I hardly see the green one? so yes I would say its the jungle items overall, I'm guessing here but there had to be either one thing in particular that riot saw an overuse of or an item that jungles never leave out of their builds common to all junglers. that aside this is the 4th change to jungle items since season 4 and its annoying
